Bewitch ready for some John Gray Final magic!
Thursday night’s 12-race program will be headlined by the 2025 John Gray final, with the $10,000 to the winner final drawing together a high-quality field.
A series open to grade 5 greyhounds, there were five heats of the time-honoured series run last week with the fastest heat winner being Bewitch, which is now in the care of trainer Lauren Harris.
Harris has taken over training Bewitch while owner Kirin Corby recovers from a knee operation and the greyhound has been in terrific form since joining the Harris kennel.
Bewitch has won four straight races including ‘The Spark’ final and a personal best run of 30.40 before winning a heat of the John Gray in 30.47 last week.
“Kirin contacted us a while ago to see if we would be interested in training some of her dogs as she was looking into getting her knee operated on,” Bewitch trainer Lauren Harris said.
“All of her dogs came to us in fantastic condition and Bewitch had shown great potential in her first few starts.
“We are glad that she has settled in here and in our routine and has continued her great form.”
Drawn in box four in the heat last week, Bewitch came out running with a blistering 5.19 first split and setting up a winning break and kicking away to win by seven lengths in what was a best of the night time.
“She jumped great!” Harris said.
“it was something we knew she could do, we freshened her up for the series and hopefully she can jump similarly as we have done the same prep this week.”

Drawn box five in the final, the Zambora Blaze x Tauwitchere greyhound, will need to step again to figure in the finish of a hotly contested series.
“Box five is probably not what we want but if she can come out like she did in the heat, she may find herself in the front runners,” Harris said.
“She has shown she doesn’t need to lead and can show great finishing speed so we are just hoping for a forward position early.”
“We are pleased to have made the final of this race (the John Gray), its been a featured race and we have wanted to win it for many years.”
The John Gray final is race 8 on the card at 9:04pm local time with a big night on course at Angle Park for Family Fun in the Sun featuring free kids’ activities, food trucks, live music and more!
