TELLING THE TAIL by The Shadow

What a night of racing it was last week and well done to all involved in putting together a great night of racing.  Congratulations to Kenny Gill and of course Ernie.  It looked like we had an awesome crowd on the concourse and the restaurant upstairs was packed.  Now on to picking a winner or two tonight.

Race 1 and the Karen Bearpark sprinter in Contrarian is drawn to win the first.  He has the pace to kick up early and has won here in some terrific times of late.  The main danger is the troy Murray trained Kalden Kapone who has early pace.  Box up 1-5-7-8.

Race 2 and this is a very open affair.  I have tipped Dyna Wally from box 5, he won here last start in 30.13 by over 9L and with a repeat performance of that would see him win here.  Gilbert Allen is down on the fence and is a chance if there is any trouble.  Box up 1-2-5-7.

Dyna Aline is in outstanding form of late and can make it three on end over the 6oom tonight.  She is carving out quick times and will win.  Fair Change can push up from box 1 and will be right in the mix.  Add in Fonsie Bale who is a lot better than recent form suggests along with Victa Scott.  Box up 1-2-3-5.

Race 4 and I have gone for the red in Dyna Erwin.  He loves the inside draw but tends to find one better each week.  Tonight should be the night, add in the speedy Disco Dave and Paua Is Lethal.  Box up 1-3-5-7.

Race 5 is an interesting race for mine as there is a heap of early pace in Prank Call, who at his best, would blow these away down in box 2.  Grainne O’Malley will be carving across out wide, along with Victa Sam and Pandora Kist.  Box up 1-2-6-7.  This is a tough, tough race.

Race 6, this looks a 2 dog race in the 1 and the 4.  Both have different racing styles as the 4 dog pings and the red will be rattling home.  Box up 1-4-5-7.

On to race 7 and jump on Mr versatile, Pedro’s First.  He has been racing in top form over the 600m and is more than capable.  Back in the sprint here tonight.  Add in Galilee Spirit who has found form along with Carlos Tyson who will appreciate the drop in grade.  Box up 1-4-5-8.

Race 8 and it is very hard to go past the Petar Jovanovic trained Benchmark, which was what he was in the Adelaide Cup Consolation where he jumped straight to the front and won in a slick 29.79 from box 2.  The dangers are the pacey Flying Tee and Tercel who is back in distance here.  Box up 1-4-6-8.

The distance race tonight is the last chance for me with the old fellow Kalden Mayhem.  He has been struggling of late but should find the line tonight.  Fender is no slouch and has the pace to lead here for a long way.  Real Impact is a new comer and is worth watching, along with Husky Dreamer who will battle on.  Box up 1-4-5-7.

Race 10 and the Kim Johnstone kennel are knocking up plenty of winners of late and Wild Soul carved out a more than handy 30.04 win here last start from box 4.  He is very hit and miss on box rise but strong.  Nasty Ned is an interesting runner and has the pace to cross from box 6.  Box up 1-2-6-8.

The last and we can go home on a winner with Dyna Lent.  She has been around the mark of late along with a good win at Gawler in 31.07 from box 3.  Will be hard to beat.  First Call has drawn box 1 and will be right in the mix along with Yayoi Bale, who has good short course form and could ping and win from box 8 for Wendy Matcott.  Box up 1-3-7-8.

The Ken Gill trained star who performed brilliantly to win last weeks Group 1 Adelaide Cup will be one of the main draw cards at the Meadows on Saturday 26th October. Ernie will be trialling at the Meadows this Saturday night in preparation for the Group 1 feature. SEPARATE GRADING AT GAWLER TO START IN DECEMBER

Very shortly GRSA will begin work with RAWWA to allow for separate grading at Gawler to be implemented in December. Gawler will be separated into two categories with Tuesday being separate grading to both Friday and Sunday. Greyhounds will keep the same grade that they currently have when Gawler is separated. GRSA will not change a greyhounds grade ie Grade 2 goes to Grade 5 for Friday. Please be mindful of this when the implementation will begin. I will advise the confirmed date next month but it will likely be in the later part of December.

Bookmaker Peter Damarell will be on-course every Wednesday betting competitive fixed odd markets on the full programme at Angle Park. Peter will also display all bookmaker prices from the thoroughbred meetings in South Australia and the meetings in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. Touch screens have also been installed at Angle Park to assist with race form every meeting.

Punters can enjoy the comfort of the Angle Park betting auditorium and it’s free to get in. No more hot or cold old betting rings after a long drive. Why not give it a try?
