Wednesday
It was a massive Wednesday at Gawler for local trainer Yvonne Maxwell, who took home three winners, from the three possible races she could have won. It was a stunning display from her chasers, which started with Calais’s Wohling who landed her first victory since her debut win last year. She came from just off the speed to win over the short trip in 23.40 before the ever-reliable and consistent Love And Rain made the most of a handy box three. The nearly five old left the boxes well enough over the short trip and found herself in a striking position up the back straight. Into the turn, she barged her way through to the lead and raced all but over, before winning in 22.94. Nangar Teddy then completed the trio, with a very much deserving victory over the 531m trip. From box two, he had to work hard early, but was in clear air and before long had worked his way to the lead. Once in front he never looked like losing, winning in a very handy 30.91. A terrific day out for Yvonne!

Energy Rush hasn’t been under the care of Tim Ieraci for too long and he has had his share of injury problems, but on Wednesday he showed he was near his best, with a dominant win over the 400m trip. From box five in an even race, he showed plenty of speed to work his way to an early lead. Once he got to the lead, it was pretty comfortable for him as he strolled away, winning by three lengths in 23.10. A good training effort from Tim and hopefully Energy Rush can stay sound and keep winning races!

Sunday

It was a strong card on Sunday night and we saw some excellent performances as a result. Paul Fagan landed a training double for the evening, with his two winners going particularly well. Aston Marlon made amends for a luckless run last week, with a ripping effort from box six in a relatively strong 400m grade 5 field. He jumped well and quickly mustered his way to the lead, once he got there he travelled well and never looked like losing, before winning by four lengths in 22.65. Yulong Yap then made it two in a row, when he won over the 531m distance. From box seven, he jumped well but was outpaced early and he settled in second up the back. Given how strong he is, you always thought he might come back at the leader and sure enough he did, levelling up and running past in the home straight to win in 30.92. A good night for Paul!

The Nathan Goodenough-trained Taylor Toves continues to amaze and produce some breathtaking performances, which he did again on Sunday. From box eight in the fast class over the 400m trip, he was a tad slow to go but was able to quickly balance up and work through his gears. Along the back straight, he took over and railed underneath the leader, with the race effectively over from there. He ran away and won in a sizzling 22.36, which was easily the quickest of the night and almost a personal best for him. Having just turned three years old, you would think he will be adding a few more wins yet to his amazing 24 career victories so far.

Neil Mann has done an excellent job with his chaser Flip The Script, with the brindle dog landing another career win on Sunday over the 531m distance. From box seven, in a pretty even grade 4/5 field, he jumped well and landed in a very ominous spot in second early. He travelled sweetly the entire race and as they went into the home turn, he made his move and pushed his way through to the lead. It was a tight finish but he won in a very slick 30.66, which is an excellent effort for a four-year-old chaser!
