Before Sir Truculent became the hero of greyhound racing in South Australia in 2020, his dad Worm Burner was the biggest star on the block enjoying a cult following among racing fans. During a career highlighted by a 13 race winning-streak at Angle Park and his amazing hometown Group 1 National Sprint victory in 2016, Worm Burner had SA fans glued to their screens every time he started, much like his most famous progeny.

Bred by Meningie trainer Cameron Butcher, Worm Burner dominated SA racing for all of 2016 claiming the SA Greyhound of the Year Award before a successful move interstate culminated in a third-placing in the 2016 Melbourne Cup. This domination has now extended into his career as a sire by winning SA's Stud Dog of the Year Award for the second year in a row. In 2020, his progeny won an impressive 404 races in South Australia - 376 wins ahead of his nearest rival highlighting the quality of pups being produced and the resulting confidence of so many breeders, local and interstate, to breed with the SA gun. Further testament to his performance at stud, Worm Burner also finished third for overall wins in SA behind super-sires Fernando Bale and Barcia Bale.

Famous progeny include the above-mentioned Sir Truculent (the 2020 TAB SA Greyhound of the Year), SA Sprint Queen Coorong Lucy (who has finished runner-up in the SA Greyhound of the Year award 2 years running), 2020 Group 1 Australian Cup finalist Mister Harlewood and highly talented Queenslander Shorino just to name a few.
