Wednesday
It was a strong card for a Wednesday at Gawler, with some terrific performances put together by a few different chasers. Ben Rawlings had a double for the afternoon, which started with Agent Nine Nine, who found herself amazingly well in for a grade 6, given her recent form. From box eight over the 531m trip, she glided straight over to the lead and quickly put a space on her opponents. It was good viewing for her followers the entire trip, as she never looked in trouble and won well in 30.83. The promising Haldiki was in the next race and he showed his liking for the Gawler track, with a fast win over the 400m. From box five, he came out well and quickly found himself in the lead. It was a space job when he found the front, as he strolled away and won in 22.66.

It was fantastic to see the Tony Fry-trained Sintra land another career win, with the brindle bitch having been a model of consistency for some time now. She had box four over the short trip which is generally a tad awkward, however, she left the boxes quite well and found herself sitting outside of the leader. Before the turn, she had worked herself to lead and was looking good. In the straight, she had to hold off a late charge but did and won well in 23.05. A great win and hopefully a confidence booster for her!

It wasn’t hard to find the run of the day, with the Ashlee Griffiths trained Cash On Delivery flying over the 400m trip. First up for six weeks, the dog had already shown a lot of ability and was expected to run well. He had box eight to deal with and whilst he was a tad slow to go, he very quickly flicked through his gears and had put 5 lengths on the field down the back straight. He was flying along and it proved to be a dominant win, as Cash On Delivery strolled away for a monster 9-length win, in an unbelievable 22.28, which was just a pimple off the track record held by Toby West. Ashlee also picked up a double with Springview Force winning the next race in a quick 22.63, making it a terrific afternoon for the kennel!

Friday
Bronwyn Welsh made another four-hour drive from Mildura to Gawler on Friday and it proved to be quite successful, as she landed a fantastic treble for the afternoon.  The super promising Rustic Kruger got things going, with the fawn dog just proving a different class to his grade 6 rivals, with a powerful and smart 22.65 win over the 400m. It wasn’t all smooth sailing as he was a tad slow to go from a wide draw, but smarts and courage saw him make light work of things. He’s got a nice future this dog. Harper’s Buddy then won the next race from box eight, with a quick beginning playing a significant role in the victory. She found the early lead and whilst she was pressured most of the race, she was just too good in the end, running through the line strongly and winning in 22.81. The fabulous Kruger Lass completed the afternoon, using all of her smarts and strength to come from off the pace and win in 30.65 over the 531m trip. Having just turned three, she has now won 12 races from 42 starts, she has been a ripper!

Kim Johnstone has got her team starting to fire up again and landed a double for the afternoon on Friday. Westar Aileen was the first and she was a surprise victor over the 400m trip. A quick beginning saw her find the early lead and with the favourites working hard from a wide draw to find a spot, she was able to keep working through on the rail and was doing it nicely in front. Ultimately she was never in doubt, as she ran away in a very handy 22.81. Kim then rounded out the card with Magical Doll, who got up at a massive $41. From box four over the short trip, she came out well and was able to get to the lead… just. With a little bit of jamming behind her, she was able to skip clear late and win by a couple of lengths in 23.26. A good afternoon out for Kim!
