Virginia Coursing - Waterloo Cup Review

Well, we kicked off our biggest meeting of the year without a hitch and on a beautiful sunny morning the heats of the 2020 Waterloo Cup began.  Four really close courses to set the scene for the day.

This was followed by some terrific courses in the Oaks, which included a few surprises, not the least of which was the performance of Don & Gail Turner’s Indeed who only just went down in the Final to her more fancied rival in Fly for Fashion for Jane McNicholl, having defeated Funambilist and Sallynoggin on the way.

The Waterloo Cup was won in fine style by the Shut the Gate Syndicate’s Westgate Girl trained by Adam Manton. She has taken to the Virginia track like a duck to water and run one of the better times for the day to beat her brother to gain her start in the final.

There where Doubles to Marty Doyle, Jane McNicholl and Bec Romyn with their charges and overall a great day was had by all. Was great to see some Old and New Faces out there, and a Big Thankyou goes to Kurt Donsberg for all his snaps through the Day. Can’t wait to see the pictures he got, with some excellent and knowledgeable calling from Scott Feltus.

Hope to see you all in a fortnight for our Final meeting.
