Brilliant Victorian bitch Cintiarna took her prizemoney past $250,000 with a sensational victory in the Group 3 West End Draught Anniversary Cup Final at Angle Park last night.

The Sandra Collins trained flyer looked to be in trouble early from box 1 when she was crossed early by the speedy Prank Call however she railed strongly on the first turn to move to second spot with Prank Call firmly in her sights. She hit the front down the back straight and from there was never headed racing right away from her rivals to win brilliantly by over 4 lengths in a sizzling 29.53. She defeated both Kalden Kurageous for Troy Murray and Just Shine for Robyn Mackellar who both continues their very good local form.

Cintiarna will now be set for the Group 1 Sapphire Crown at Sandown Park beginning in 4 weeks’ time on May 9.

The second of the Group 3 features last night was the West End Draught Distance Championship won in strong style by Victorian stayer Mimicking for trainer Rob Britton who had to come from a long way back to defeat tear away leader Proven Impala. Proven Impala blasted out of the boxes running some of the quickest sectionals ever recorded over the staying trip at Angle Park with both Cousin Callum and Robert Andrew giving chase. Mimicking settled back in the field and gradually made ground as the field turned for home before sweeping to victory in the home straight to win by 2 lengths in a solid 43.08 for the 731m journey. The early burn took its toll on Proven Impala for Joe Borg who hung on gamely for second with last year’s winner Cousin Callum for Petar Jovanovic filling the minor money.

A terrific nights racing was seen at Angle Park with some of the best chasers and stayers on show for our two Group 3 finals.
