Popular Gawler River trainer Richard Pearce returned to the winners list on Sunday Night with his greyhound Ned’s Chance at Gawler. Ned’s Chance had drawn box eight in race eleven over the 643 meters and he was up against a pretty strong field. The favourite for the race was the Group One Queensland Cup winner Sir Truculent who has had 42 wins from 99 starts. Ned Chance jumped away well from box eight and led the field into the first turn. The four-year-old greyhound just kept finding something and he hit the line strongly to lead all of the way. He ran a time of 37.80 and he made it win 21 from 79 starts. The time was also Ned’s Chance’s personal best time over the 643 at Gawler. Pearce was visibly happy after the race.

Murray Bridge trainer Greg Board who is a regular at the Gawler Greyhounds also managed to have a strong night. His first winner of the night occurred in race three with Spring Phoebe greeting the judge first over the 400 meters and running a time of 23.03. Board also struck in the last race over the 531 meters when Spring Agatha jumped well from box one and led all of the way for a commanding victory. Nicole Price also continued her strong form with a double which is becoming a common trend on Sunday nights at Gawler. She scored in race two and five with her greyhounds Spring Bonnie and Charlie Brother.

Racing returns to Gawler on Wednesday afternoon and Sunday Night this week. The Gawler Gold Cup is coming up in a couple of weeks.
