Two Greyhounds and Lots of Excitement
It has been 3 months since Weblec Rebel and Weblec Blade took to the track for the newly founded ‘We Love Our Dogs’ Syndicate established by the Adelaide Greyhound Racing Club. With wins and places for both dogs, there has been plenty for the syndicate owners to get excited about.
Trained by Vadim Roz, the two greyhounds are litter mates and were offered together as a pair, with 31 owners joining the syndicate. For many this is their first taste of greyhound ownership and serves as in introduction to their involvement in greyhound racing.
With two dogs in the syndicate there are more races for the owners to get excited about which was a key point that certainly enticed syndicate member Wayne and Dannii to take up the offer. Wayne’s interest in greyhound racing and ownership came soon after adopting retired greyhound Timmy (race name: Silver Timothy) from Greyhounds As Pets in 2020. When asked why he decided to adopt Wayne stated, “what attracted us to adopting a greyhound from GAP was knowing we would get a dog that’s been very well looked after, trained and fully vet checked.”
After falling in love with greyhounds, syndication was a natural progression for Wayne and the whole family to become more involved with the greyhound world. “I have loved being involved with the We Love Our Dogs Syndicate,” Wayne stated. “The family loves coming to the track to see the dogs, even the young fella who is 12 can’t wait to get his catcher’s licence.”
Public syndicates like this one are a great way for individuals to get started in greyhound racing ownership, due to the reduced investment of purchasing a racing greyhound and the chance to meet many like-minded individuals who are also new to the sport. “We are very happy with what a greyhound and greyhound syndication has brought to our life,” Wayne said.
