The past week at the Bridge...

Tuesday (Straight Track)

Great conditions last Tuesday for 10 races up the straight. We got to see a couple of nice young pups go up the straight which all won - Influencer (16.75), Aston Wines (16.91) and Classy Chaos (16.75)

We saw a few multiples on the card which was fantastic. Richard Stasiak who just quietly is going at a 46.4% winning strike rate this year - which would almost be the best in the county, if not the best! He went 2 from 2 with Influencer and then Flying Scimitar who was probably one of the wins of the day after he got absolutely crunched early before he picked up the leader late. Ben Rawlings got 2 with Lochinvar Rubble lobbing nicely and Classy Chaos doing the job at a $1.40

Matty Payne scored three for the afternoon, probably fair to say he is close to the hottest kennel in the state right now with his dogs just going super. His promising pup in Aston Wines lobbed early in the day before his slightly quicker brother in Aston Carlos won over the 350m trip. An improved Aston Pinot rounded out the 3fa for Matty as she clocked a slick 16.57.

Aston Olenna was easily the quickest hound up the straight for the day as he went a blistering 16.31. That win extended Dave Peckham’s lead in the trainer premiership for this year. Aston Carlos went the quicker of the 2 x 350m races, going a sharp 19.21.

All in all a good day up the straight track.

Dog to follow: Influencer - A really impressive type this dog and he took to the straight track beautifully. His smooth, long striding action was eye-catching and he hit the line really nicely. Almost certain we will see him over the 350m at the next meeting and should suit perfectly.

Friday (1-Turn)

A super strong 12 race meeting last Friday with the bigger trainers dominating. A messy maiden kicked things off and in fortunate circumstances, an odds on High Octane was able to get around the field and win by a nose.

Timmy Ieraci was able to jag a rare Murray Bridge winner with his handy dog - Mississippi Blue. It was a scrappy affair but when the 2 leaders had other things on their mind in the home straight, Mississippi Blue produced a huge finish to come down the outside and pick them up. You would expect he might relish the 455m trip!

Troy Murray had a good day out with 3 winners. Basman was his first and he showed a bit of class in his win. Normally an on pace dog he came out average but was able to reel in the clear leader. Agent Swan who was off a little freshen up after some steady form, was able to ping out of the 530m boxes and never looked like losing as she clocked 29.91 in a nice training effort from Troy, their was a bit of money around for her as well! His last winner who was the greatest graded certainty you have ever seen - She’s A Hotshot. She did it so easily and clocked a flying 4.97-22.22 on a slow track.

The other treble on the day went to Lisa Rasmussen. She won the second of the day with Western Australia expat - Canya Angel, who just got in over the 395m trip. The raging bull that is Victa Kurt lobbed over the 455m trip and went really well, he broke up the field midrace and won quite nicely in 25.90. Her third winner went to He’s All Ours, who looked a really good chance off the great draw, being underneath Allinga Grin. He jumped well and found the front, from which point he wasn’t getting run down as he clocked a 22.45. He’s a kennel favourite and has been a super dog - 23 wins and $29,000 in prize money.

She’s A Hotshot clocked the 395m time honours with her flying 22.22 and Victa Kurt with his 25.90 run over the 455m journey.

Dog to follow: Agent Swan - Not exactly ‘finding’ one here BUT I think she might still be a price next run. Had shown ability in the middle of year when she was in great form, but has obviously been battling injury issues for the last period of time. Her run Friday says that Troy has gotten on top of that and she is back to her best, in which case she will be hard to stitch wherever she lines up next!
