Tuesday (Straight Track)

We had 10 races up the straight last Tuesday with some handy types engaged.

The Trengove team of Shelley and Clint had a good day out, with a double between them on the card. Hulky Boy broke through for his maiden victory at start 16, winning by a nose in 17.37. He made it a complete winning litter for Fernando Bale x Ima Misha Doll mating, which is a big credit to Clint and Shelley. Action Bronson was the second winner as he continued his affiliation with the Straight Track, winning the fast class race of the day in 16.96.

Black Cobra was a terrific winner on Tuesday, winning his grade 6 over the 300m trip in a BOD 16.70 for his trainer John Sargent. Black Cobra has been going quite well recently, so it was no real surprise that he was able to run that time. The 32kg dog seems to enjoy racing at the straight, and will always be in with a chance when he lines up there.

Manuel and Debbie Stuppos scored a double between them as well, with a couple of nice winners. French For Bread was the first, and he was able to defeat the proven straight track performer in Just Buffy, which is a good effort considering it was only his fourth start. Damocles completed the double, winning with a gritty effort in 17.20. Well done to the Stuppos team!

Dog to follow: Urban Ranger - Put up an enormous effort to run third by less a length in his heat of the maiden series. Was absolutely poleaxed numerous times in the run but still stormed home. He looks like he has a motor, and if he gets any luck in the final on Tuesday, then he can beat the likely favourite in Spring Ignite.

Sunday (1-Turn)

We had a ripping 12 race programme on an extremely fresh Sunday night at the Bridge.

Tony Rasmussen had a huge night winning four races. Undoing won his maiden with a strong effort over the short trip, before Lot Of Poise showed his strength to the win over the 530m trip in 29.95. Miers landed a deserving win to make it three for the night, winning comfortably ahead of her kennel mate in Val Ali. Show Me Bucks completed the night for Tony taking out race 11 in 22.42.

Paul Rehmann hit the winners list with Gemtree Apollo winning in particularly good fashion. Jumping from box #5, he found some early interference and looked to be in plenty of trouble. Gemtree Apollo wasn’t having a bar of that though, as he found the fence and rattled home to win in 22.49. A fantastic win and hopefully Paul can string a few more victories together!

Probably the win of the night went to Fantastix Dixie who won in a sizzling 29.66 over the 530m trip at her first venture to the one track. She has shown that she is very strong, but on Sunday found herself in an unusual spot of leading. It was a dominant display as she clocked flying sectionals on route to her fast victory. She has a big future, but first will tackle the final on Friday where she will be a hot favourite.

Dog to follow: Closer To Rain - She’s still a relatively new bitch to the Steven Brook kennel, but her last few runs have been continually improved efforts and again on Sunday night she ran really well. It wasn’t the best beginning, but she made a nice midrace move before losing momentum turning for home, when her run was shut off. Ended up losing by a nose, but she should have won for her first crack at the Murray Bridge track.
