Tonight's Angle Park Preview
TELLING THE TAIL by The Shadow
Congratulations to all the winners of Saturday night’s GOTY awards. Kenny Gill and Ernie certainly deserved the big one. Tonight’s racing could see an up and comer in the staying ranks emerge, as there is a big wrap on Luna Jinx for Gavin Harris. We also see the return of a quality sprinter in Dustnado in race 6.
Race 1 and we can kick off with a winner, Victa Scott from box 1. He has good form over the 600m and the drop in distance won’t be a worry especially from the inside box. Noble Kahn can be the big improver and will be hard to beat, add in Senni Tony who will be rattling home late. Box up 1.2.3.6.
The second event and we are going for early pace here in Boonoona Boy. The kennel is on fire of late and he looks very hard to beat from box 2. Junta Bale and Velocity Fire are all chances. Box up 1.2.4.8.
Race 3 and over half the field can win this one. I am going with winning form and that is Aston Odin for Troy Murray. He has won his last 4 on the trot, all in good times. Box up 1.2.4.6.
The fourth and this is the Distance event of the night. We see Luna Jinx for Gavin Harris take the field. She stormed home to win by over 8L over the 600m last start and won a trial here in a slick 34.90 here the week prior. She is tardy early which is her biggest worry. Box up 1.2.4.7.
Ben Rawlings is on a high at the moment and George Again can continue the kennels winning form and appears very hard to beat in this. His only worry is his box manners, as he can be very hit and miss but has a PB of 29.73. Box up 1.2.3.7
Race 6 and it will be the book ends of the field. Sidney’s Shadow carved out a slick 29.68 here last start to win by over 6L and take out the St Ledger Final. She should be VERY hard to beat from box 1. Dustnado has a heap of class when on song but has been injury prone in months gone by but has a PB of 29.59 and 8 wins and 3 placing’s from just 13 starts. Box up 1.2.5.8.
Race 7 and this is a VERY open affair with a heap of chances. The best performers have drawn the middle and will need everything their own way early to win. I have tipped the widest runner in Lolly Bale for the Rasmussen kennel. She has good form when out wide and should be at good eachway odds. Encosta Kahn is in form along with Chemical Maker. Box up 1.4.5.8.
The eighth and I am tipping the inside four in race book order. Suntory Gold only needs to kick up early and will prove hard to beat. Jimmy Lane has a heap of early pace and looks the likely leader. The other 2 both are last start winners. Add in the 7 Maysoon Kahn as value in a hard race. Box up 1.2.3.4
This is the 600m event of the night and we have a leader and several who will be rattling home. Tercel should lead but will have Kaylarikki right on his tale. Pedros First is another who will be in the mix. Box up 1.2.4.5.
Race 10 and this is a terrific Grade 5 event with a couple of last start winners. Genghis Kahn won here in 29.74 Monday Night from box 7 and will be hard to beat. Riley Cracks It can’t do any more than win his past couple. Box up 1.3.6.7. This is a very good betting race.
The final event and it is the book ends again. Numbers 1 and 8, Dakota Premier has two nice wins here in 30.08 and 29.99 and is boxed to win again. Nebula is no slouch and won here in a slick 29.78 last start. Box up 1.4.7.8.

SEPARATION OF GAWLER
The separation of Gawler was introduced a few weeks ago. At Gawler the Tuesday (Provincial 1) meeting will be different grading to both Friday and Sunday (Provincial 2). The greyhounds current grade as of Monday (10th Feb) was used as the point of separation for both Provincial 1 and Provincial 2 (all clubs). With the introduction of separate grading at Gawler the Grade 6 rules have changed. The changes allow for two more wins at Gawler for SA Bred greyhounds (two tracks) and 1 more win for Non SA Bred greyhounds making it a maximum of 4. With the separation there will be really no more opportunity to“beat the grader”. If as of Monday 10th Feb your greyhound had won all of his/her Grade 6 events then there are no extra races to be won however if you still had Grade 6’s to win then there may be a few more opportunities available. There is no RE-GRADING to make greyhounds eligible for Grade 6 events.
With the introduction of Provincial 1 and Provincial 2 other tracks of same classification have also changed from Provincial. Listed below is how we recognise all tracks in SA.
Angle Park Thursday – City A
Angle Park Monday – City B
Gawler Tuesday – Provincial 1
Angle Park Wednesday – Provincial 2
Gawler Friday – Provincial 2
Gawler Sunday – Provincial 2
Strathalbyn Sunday – Provincial 2
