 SEASONS GREETINGS

On behalf of the GRSA Board Members,

Management and Staff we would like to

wish all greyhound industry participants and followers a Merry Christmas and

a Happy New Year.

TELLING THE TAIL by The Shadow

Good luck to all who are having a punt tonight and Merry Christmas to all Greyhound supporters and the Staff of GRSA.

Race 1 and let’s kick off with a cheeky one in Fair Change for Todd Kelly.  This is a good race to have a wager on.  She is more than capable of pinching this and there is a heap of chances so box up 1-2-3-6.

Race 2 and it will be a firm track and the likely leader will be the well named Flying Charles for Troy Murray.  He has terrific short course form and can lead here for a long way.  The dangers look to be Victa Nicole and Omar Bale.  Box up 1-3-6-8.

Race 3 and I will stick with Contrarian.  He has been struggling of late but should get the bickies with his early pace.  The others all will be running on late.  Box up 1-3-6-8.

Race 4 and I have gone for early pace in Sienna Bale.  She is a worry over this trip but is the likely leader.  The 7 runner is a newcomer from WA and is one to keep an eye on.  Box up 2-3-5-7.

Onto the fifth and this is an interesting race.  The 600m affair has a heap of chances and there are too many to name.  I will stick with the old fella, I don’t mean the dog!!!  The trainer, Wally Harkins’, Who De Punk.  He loves to lead and will take a power of beating.  Add in Victa Scott and Galaxy Snow.  Box up 2-5-6-8.

Race 6 and the Harkins kennel can get a double with Good Odds Punk.  He will be running on late from box 2 and will give this a shake.  Book Of Shadows is a lot better than form suggests and is drawn for a bold showing.  Box up 1-2-4-7.

Race 7 and this looks a 2 dog race between the 1 and the 2.  They both have pace and it will be who leads to the 1st turn.  So I have gone with Benchmark from box 1.  Box up 1-2-5-6.

The 8th and Fire Tyson can bounce back from last week’s defeat.  He found a heap of trouble from box 6 but still ran a handy 3rd .  Springvale Cool and Flying Tee, both have chances and will be right in the mix.  Box up 1-2-6-7.

Race 9 and the 700m event and Token McLaren will start the short priced favourite.  He walked out here last start and was a VERY disappointing 2nd in 43.35.  He is a class act when on song and can bounce back in the small field.  Box up 1-2-4-5.

Race 10, this is a tough race but the rails never fails and that is British Bomber from box 1.  He can run a bold race from the red for Kenny Gill.  There is a heap of chances for the minors.  Box up 1-4-5-6.

The last event and lets go home on a winner with the Cameron Butcher Regal Looper.  He should lead and win from box 3.  Box up 1-2-3-6.

Best Bet - Father Christmas won’t bring what you want.

Best Eachway - your wife or partner will get what they want.

Best Roughie - the next door neighbour will get the lot.

Good luck Happy Christmas to all safe driving and don’t forget to give the dish lickers a special treat on the 25th  FROM The Shadow….

LOCAL INDUSTRY NEWS

DOUG PAYNE NIGHT

A great night of racing at headquarters tonight featuring the $6,875 Doug Payne Feature for Open SA Bred greyhounds. It’s an outstanding field with the box draw making it even more interesting with all runners given a hope of filling the placings.  The Tony Lagana trained Fire Tyson will be looking to make it back to back Doug Payne’s after winning last years feature but will get stiff competition from the likes of Springvale Cool, Flying Tee and Victa Victoria.

Trainers are reminded to collect a free bottle of wine from the Racing Office tonight when getting their Trainers Fee to thank them for their participation this year.

2014 ADELAIDE GREYHOUND AUCTION

The Adelaide Greyhound Racing Club (AGRC) in conjunction with GRSA, will once again conduct the Adelaide Greyhound Auction in 2014.

DATE: Sunday 12th October, 2014

For all greyhounds whelped between: 1st November 2013 - 31st May 2014

More information will be provided over the coming months, including details of nominator/breeder bonuses and the race series attached to the auction.

ADELAIDE CUP TO RUN ON FRIDAY NIGHT IN 2014

As announced in the Sunday Mail last weekend the Group 1 Adelaide Cup in 2014 will be run on a Friday night for the first time in the races history. The opportunity came out of the blue, with Greyhound Racing Victoria first approaching GRSA about swapping our Thursday night on Boxing Day to allow the Group 1 Sale Cup, typically in a twilight timeslot, to be run in conjunction with the Sandown Park meeting at night.

As previously advertised we moved Boxing Day to a twilight meeting and requested a Friday night meeting from GRVIC in return. The chance to run our Group 1 on a Friday night was too good an opportunity for us pass up so next year the Adelaide Cup Final will be held on Friday, October 10, however we are still deciding the format of the series and whether to run the heats on the Thursday night, October 2, or Monday night, October 6.

We expect the move will allow more people to attend reaching a larger market and create a bigger atmosphere at Angle Park while also boosting turnover in the lucrative timeslot. We would also continue to work with other States in finding opportunities to improve the profile of racing in South Australia.
