Tonight's Angle Park Preview

THE SHADOW PREVIEW

What a night of racing we have tonight.  There are two semi-finals of the Brian Johnstone and a terrific 600m race as well as a 731m event on the card.  There will be several shorties on the programme but for all greyhound enthusiasts you will see the cream of SA racing grace the Angle Park loam tonight.

Race 1 and the inside two look the main chances.  That is Chemical Maker and Noble Kahn.  Both have a good turn of early pace and can kick up and be 1 & 2 in the run to the first turn.  The main dangers look to be the 4 and the 8.  Box up 1-2-4-8.

The 2nd race on the card and this is no different.  The rails look to be the ones to follow in Sniper Skills and Amber Blitz again.  They have the early pace and can fight it out in the run.  Tyson Willow found a heap of trouble here last week and is more than capable with a clear run.  Box up 1-2-3-5.

Race 3 and this is a fantastic 600m event but it is very hard to go past Cosmic Way.  He won here last start in a slick 34.79 and should bounce straight to the front and win. Tercel will be right in the mix and is capable of surprising if there is an ounce of trouble.  Box up 1-4-7-8.

The 1st semi of the Brian Johnstone and here comes Ernie Bung Arrow.  He resumed with a sensational 29.66 here last week and by all reports he needed the run.  How could we tip against him.  He should win and win easily.  Box up 2 as a standout from 1-4-8.

Race 5 is the 2nd semi final and Set The Scene for Laurie Cahalan stamped his authority first up with a 29.91 win here from box 8 at his South Australian debut.  He can only improve and will be very hard to beat.   Farmeroo is in the same kennel as Ernie and is in outstanding form with 4 wins on the trot.  Box up 3-5-6-7.

Book Of Shadows in race 6 loves a wide draw and has been in the money in 4 of her last 5 runs here.  She can be hit and miss early but will be rattling home out wide.  Victa Sam and Life’s Cool can fill the placing’s.  Box up 1-2-7-8.

Race 7 and this is a very open affair with a heap of chances and I have gone with Victa Victoria out in box 7. She has won 4 of her past 5 at Strathalbyn and Gawler and has the pace to cross.  Box up 1-2-4-7.

Fire Tyson pinged the lids and led them a merry dance with a BON 29.79 win from box 8 winning by over 4L last week, and he looks the one they have to catch again in race 8.

Bogie Magic bounced back last week with a good win and is in a kennel that keeps on training winners.  Encosta Kahn has the perfect draw and is more than capable when on song.  Box up 1-2-3-8.

Race 9 and how good is the Tania Foster trained chaser in Token Mclaren. His winning margins have been an average of 13L in 42.92, then went quicker with a 42.89 run last week.  He is a smart type who should win and win easily again.  Box up 1as a standout 2-4-8.

This looks a good punting race as there are several chances.  Dyna Millier has her paw on the till and has been a runner up here and at Strathalbyn in her last couple and from box 1 she can break through.   Remember Cestria and Oogaboo Oz for the minors however all 7 could figure.  Box up 1-3-7-8.

Race 11 is a hard race to finish the program. You should get good odds about Cosmic Encounter and Velocity Lyrem first up for Kim Johnstone so look to them as eachway chances.  Box up 1-2-5-8.

Best Bet   -   Race 8 Fire Tyson, Ernie Bung Arrow and Token McLaren, the last 2 will be very short.

Best Eachway  Victa Sam Race 6

Best Roughie Koubek Race 7

Good Luck and let’s hope we can back up from last weeks good night.

LOCAL INDUSTRY NEWS

ANGLE PARK THURSDAY NOMINATIONS CLOSE TOMORROW

With Ozchase going Live this weekend the nominations for Angle Park on both Wednesday and Thursday will close tomorrow at 9.00am. The fields for both meetings will be released before 3.30pm to accommodate Western Australia.

WESTERN AUSTRALIA “GO LIVE” ON OZCHASE THIS WEEKEND

Western Australia has advised that they will be coming “Live” onto Ozchase over this weekend (30th November and 1st December) to be fully operational on Monday 2nd December. This will leave only Queensland to join the racing platform.

Due to the transfer of data from their old system onto Ozchase there will be disruptions for our trainers over this weekend in particular for nominating online.

We have been advised that the system will be down from 3.30pm (SA Time) tomorrow (Friday 29th November) until sometime on Sunday afternoon (SA Time) so long as the process goes smoothly. With this being the case we have decided to move our close of nominations for meetings around this time to give our participants every opportunity to nominate and utilise Ozchase.

  • Angle Park Thursday 5th December – Nominations now close 9.00am on Friday 29th November
  • Angle Park Friday 6th December – now close 9.00am on Tuesday 3rd December.
  • Mount Gambier Sunday 8th December – now close 9.00am on Tuesday 3rd December.

These changes mean we can release both the Wednesday and Thursday Angle Park meetings tomorrow before Ozchase closes and we can leave Monday vacant of grading. By leaving nominations open until Tuesday for the other meetings every trainer should have an opportunity to nominate.

2013 BRIAN JOHNSTONE SEMI FINALS

Tonight we see the running of two $4,600 semi-finals of the 2013 Brian Johnstone (Group Three).

In the first semi-final star chaser Ernie Bung Arrow looks very hard to beat from box 2 after his heat win in a sizzling 29.66. He is the star chaser in South Australia and should continue on his merry way. Chances have to be given to Woodnear and As It Goes however they could be running for the minor money.

In the second semi-final it looks a more open affair with last week’s other heat winners doing battle with Set The Scene (29.91) drawing box 3 and Fameroo (30.00) out in box 6. The surprise packet could be Emerley Zodiak for Robyn Mackellar who interestingly is the only greyhound to have defeated “Ernie” in South Australia.

The first four from each semi-final qualifies for the $36,000 Brian Johnstone Final on Thursday 5th December with the fastest fifth being declared the first reserve and the other fifth placegetter the second reserve.

The breakdown for the Final will be: First $24,500 (inc. $1,000 to breeder), Second $6,500, Third $3,250 and Unplaced $350.

The box draw for the Final will take place on course tonight after the running of race 6.

The final part of this series will be the Gawler Classic 2013 on Tuesday 17th and 24th December 2013.

GROUP 1 BRISBANE CUP HEATS TONIGHT

An added bonus for racing tonight is the heats of the Group 1 Brisbane Cup at Albion Park. Hot on the heels of the Melbourne Cup last week this week there are six excellent heats with plenty of depth and class.

The first heat is race 3 on the card due to start at 7.58pm (SA time) and features Iona Seven and Top Story. Other exciting greyhounds competing in the series are Farmor Las Vegas, Gold Town, Kiss Me Ketut, Xylia Allen and Tomac Bale.

The racing should be of the highest standard and super competitive to see who makes it through to the rich $75,000 to the winner Group 1 Final next week. It looks a fabulous nights racing with my early tip for the series is Xylia Allen to add another Group 1 title to her impressive career.

Patrons on-course at Angle Park will be able to watch all the action as well as compare tote and bookmaker odds. Tattsbet will have fixed odds available on the series and provide First 4 Jackpots for all heats.

FIXED ODDS AT ANGLE PARK ON MONDAYS AND THURSDAYS

In a terrific move for greyhound racing in this State. Tattsbet are now offering a Fixed Odds market on ALL races at Angle Park on Monday night and Thursday night. This started last Monday and the response has been excellent providing another betting option for our punters.

RACEBOOKS UPDATE

This week also punters should notice that our Racebooks available on track and Formguide’s available on the website is now showing Stewards comments in the form of each greyhound. Previously the comments advised “852257” now they read “85W2C5C7VNAI” providing more context in regard to a greyhound performance.

NO TRIALS DUE TO TRACK TURNOVER AT GAWLER NEXT THURSDAY

The track turnover at Gawler will be done next Thursday 5th December 2013 and as a result there will be no trials at Gawler on that morning.

ANGLE PARK ON FRIDAY IN DECEMBER

In December we will be running at Angle Park in the Friday Day timeslot. This is to align with Christmas Shows planned on these days. We should have some good racing and plenty of oncourse atmosphere. We will revert back to our normal programmed meetings between Gawler and Mt Gambier after Xmas Day.

(Nationals policy adopted)

ANGLE PARK ON BOXING DAY NOW IN THE TWILIGHT ZONE

After a request from GRV and approval from Sky Racing we have shifted out Thursday night meeting on December 26 (Boxing Day) from a night meeting to a twilight meeting. This has assisted GRV with their programming of feature Group races at Sandown and Sale on this night.

Race times at Angle Park will now be around 3.18pm to 6.27pm. GRSA will look to increase the Trainers Fee for this meeting to assist our participants.

SEPARATE GRADING AT GAWLER TO START IN DECEMBER

With WA going Live onto Ozchase this weekend we will look to start work on the separate grading immediately after to allow for separate grading at Gawler to be implemented in December (probably late December). Gawler will be separated into two categories with Tuesday being separate grading to both Friday and Sunday. Greyhounds will keep the same grade that they currently have when Gawler is separated. GRSA will not change a greyhounds grade ie Grade 2 goes to Grade 5 for Friday. Please be mindful of this when the implementation will begin. I will advise the confirmed date next month.

BOOKMAKER PETER DAMARELL ONCOURSE EVERY WEDNESDAY AT ANGLE PARK

Bookmaker Peter Damarell will be on-course every Wednesday betting competitive fixed odd markets on the full programme at Angle Park. Peter will also display all bookmaker prices from the thoroughbred meetings in South Australia and the meetings in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. This is a major bonus for oncourse patrons as there will now be no need to make the long drive to Gawler, Balaklava, Murray Bridge or Strathalbyn as the very same bookmakers prices will be available at Angle Park every Wednesday. Touch screens have also been installed at Angle Park to assist with race form every meeting.

Punters can enjoy the comfort of the Angle Park betting auditorium and it’s free to get in. No more hot or cold old betting rings after a long drive. Why not give it a try?

Please tell your thoroughbred friends about this outstanding opportunity. Save your entry fee and petrol and participate in the opportunity to win a free $50 betting voucher drawn on the day with Peter Damarell’s compliments.

BOOKING NUMBER FOR TRIALS

Participants who wish to book trials have to ring 8243 7172. This phone line will only be used for trial bookings and will queue participants.  By having this one number with participants queuing makes this process more efficient for booking trials.  There will be NO trials accepted through the normal administration number.  To be fair to everyone GRSA will only accept bookings using the new number.  Please make yourself aware of the new number for booking trials.
