Tomorrow's Extreme Heat

GRSA wishes to clarify the announcements that were made at today’s race meeting in relation to the Gawler kennelhouse being open tomorrow due to predicted extreme heat.  At this point in time, the kennelhouse will only be opened in the event that a) fire in the broader region eventuates and b) that situation is deemed by GRSA to present a threat to participant properties, in accordance with GRSA’s Natural Disaster Policy.

GRSA will continue to monitor for fire risk across today and tomorrow.  If GRSA believes at any point that there is an actual threat of a natural disaster from bushfire, GRSA would:

  1. Make a decision in relation to the need for kennelhouses at any nearby TAB track to be opened and make such facilities available to industry as a means of shelter; and

  1. Communicate that decision and any related information to participants via industry text message.

Participants should ensure they have appropriate resources to care for their greyhounds at their registered kennel addresses and continue to monitor their phone for any such updates on the text message service.

More information in relation to the GRSA Natural Disaster Policy, including the relevant waiver, can be found under the Integrity – Rules and Policies section of the website.
