Todd Gray Previews the Mt Gambier Cup Heats on Sun
This Sunday at Mount Gambier we see the running of the 2015 Classic Bet Mount Gambier Cup. There are 6 heats on the 10 race program with race 1 kicking off at 11.59am. The Cup series is filled with local, interstate and even a few Adelaide dogs making the trip down the South East trying to take home the Cup. All heat winners and the two fastest seconds will make up the final.
Heat 1
Irelands Oyster looks hardest to beat for Victorian trainer Peter Franklin following its near track record run over the 400m journey last start, Karagosis has drawn just where it wants to be out in the 8 box and is a last start winner at the track. Farmeroo is an open grade dog at angle park and was running in the Gawler Cup just 2 weeks ago and has seen the track last series and looks a strong contender. Red Cry is best of rest with multiple wins at the track and distance.
Heat 2
This heat is full of pace that may impede the class runner Mojito Mayhem, drawing next to Cryers Ricky that likes to course wide may make it tricky for the favourite, Sakanon Momet is drawn well in in red box and will show early speed, Dee Tee is the only grade 1 dog in all of the heats and High Sierra will join the tough battle to lead around the first turn also.
Heat 3
The wide runners are drawn to perfection in this heat with both Heliski and Wattle You Have loving it out there, Heliski has been known to miss the start a little from time to time however so take on trust, Beach Wary is in fine form and started his career at this track before coming to Adelaide and will be storming home along with Barnes Bay.
Heat 4
Vector may be the best performed dog in the series at the track and should find himself running upfront in this heat along with Bourbon Club that may struggle at the distance, Pat The Baker is a last start winner in fast time and comes up with box 1 and Adelaide dogs Peejay Jack and Sandave Gem are both last start winners in sub 30.00 at Angle Park however it is their first look at the track.
Heat 5
Lobo Loco is one of the most desperate railers Ive seen in a while and has the perfect draw in box 1, Thanks Tubby is the current track record holder but is mixing his form recently and Bluey Benz was a very unlucky run last week and may run a cheeky race at odds. Throw in Dyna Vank as a roughy to qualify for next weeks final.
Heat 6
Another Gawler Cup finalist in Who’s Doing What will be the class runner here and will get home hard. Starlight Safari and Galactic Impact will be well in the market both being vertrans of the track and Allen Zenta has drawn a bad box in 5 but can run 29.70 at Angle Park so should be respected.
