Todays Twilight Angle Park Preview
TELLING THE TAIL by The Shadow
Well there goes another Christmas and it’s time to win some cash to replenish the wallet. Today’s events look to be fairly even so there should be some value amongst the 11 event programme.
Race 1 and I have gone with a value runner in Dyna Denny from box 1. He has been racing in a lot tougher company of late and will appreciate the draw. The main dangers are Galaxy snow and Dyna Hakon. Box Up 1.2.3.8.
Race 2 and this is one of the best bets on the programme. Regal Looper from box 6, he will be right on the pace early and should prove far too strong. Box up 4.6.7.8.
Cameron Butcher should get a race to race double with the speedy Sydney’s Shadow in race 3. He is well drawn out in the pink and should lead all the way. Box Up 1.3.7.8.
Race 4 and this is tough however Victa Nicole has the draw to push up from box 2, but she can be hit and miss early so she will need to be handy early. Fair Change will be right in the mix along with Book Of Shadows. Box Up 2.4.5.6.
Race 5 and Cosmic Way is back to the 600m and he looks far too strong, but he will be very short for mine. So make him a stand out for the trifecta. Box up 2-1-3-5
Race 6 and Zulu Spear won on his debut and should only be improved by the run. Senni Tony will be running on, so will Pepper Kahn. Box Up 1.2.5.7.
Interesting race with a heap of early pace. I have gone with Pandora Kist as she was an eye catching run here last start. Box up 2.4.6.7.
Race 8 and this should cap off a big meeting for the Butcher kennel. That would be a treble if Right Time wins from box 1. He is strong when on the bunny and looks the one to beat. Box up 1.3.6.8.
Race 9 and here is another BEST BET. Allen Illem for the Rasmussen kennel has drawn down on the fence and will be very hard to beat. Box Up 1.3.4.7
Race 10 and Nasty Ned has the pace to lead along with Life’s Cool. Box Up 1.2.3.8.
The Distance event and it will be a matter of how far for Token Mclaren. He should win by a big margin. It’s not worth having a trifecta as it will pay very skinny.

LOCAL INDUSTRY NEWS
CHRISTMAS CUP SPRINT TODAY
At 5.36pm this afternoon the best sprinters in the State will do battle in the Christmas Cup Sprint at Angle Park. Tonight’s meeting is in the Twilight zone and features one of the best races for the year. Right Time for Cameron Butcher has drawn perfectly in box 1 and has never been beaten when coming from the red and after his Doug Payne Feature win last week looks the one to beat. However the likes of Gawler Cup winner Bogie Magic, Adelaide Cup finalist Fire Tyson and SA Derby place getter Kalden Gambino will all be challenging hard not to mention all other runners engaged who have form and ability to boot. It is one race not to be missed.
Tattsbet will have a great start to the Trifecta pool with them offering a $9,929 Jackpot so the exotics could be the way to go.
Trainers are reminded that GRSA will be offering an extra $10 Trainers Fee on top of their normal fee which will be paid into their nominated bank account.
JUVENILE FEATURE HEATS IN THE TWILIGHT ZONE
Two terrific heats of the Juvenile Feature will be run at Angle Park today. Whilst there is only seven runners in each race there are some exciting prospects for the future doing battle. In the first heat the main contenders look to be Cosmic Kristie, Lindy Sue and Kash Kist whilst in the second heat Sindney’s Shadow looks very hard to beat with eachway chances to Macca’s Spirit, Stack The Deck and Dakota La Flash. The first four from each heat will qualify for next weeks $4,265 final (2nd January).
GROUP 1 FINALS IN VICTORIA TONIGHT
The National focus will be on Victoria tonight once the cricket finishes for two big Group 1 Finals. The Sale Cup over the middle distance and the Silver Chief at The Meadows. There will be full coverage on Sky racing and Tattsbet so whilst Angle Park will have finished for the day there is still plenty of exciting greyhound racing to be seen.
SA BRED FUTURITY PAYMENTS DUE TOMORROW
The next batch of futurity payments are due tomorrow (Friday 27th December) and there are three series for which payments need to be made. Please contact Caralyn Fielden if you have not received any paperwork.
SA SPRINT CHAMPIONSHIP NEXT MONTH
Owners & Trainers are reminded of the domiciliary clause on the SA Sprint Championship coming up in January. To be eligible a greyhound must have been domiciled in SA for a period of not less than 76 days out of the 150 days immediately prior to the time fixed for the finalising of nominations and drawing of fields. (Nationals policy adopted)
This date going back 76 days is 23rd October as nominations close on Monday 6th January 2013.
The $4,265 heats are scheduled to be run on Thursday 9th January, with the Final to be run on Thursday 16th January. Total prizemoney for the listed final will be $22,000, with the winner’s share of $15,000.
Nominations close on Monday 6th January 2013 at 9.00am with GRSA.
SEPARATION OF GAWLER TO START AT END OF JANUARY
The separation of Gawler will now be introduced towards the end of January. GRSA and WA had been working at getting the Gawler meetings separated into Provincial 1 and Provincial 2 however the data flow to NSW for formguides and race books and information to the National Data Repository has not been completed. With the Christmas break in these States work will not recommence until the middle of next month.
With the introduction of separate grading at Gawler the Grade 6 rules were considered for change via the Grading Review Panel which was published in this months kennel capers. With most of separate grading details finalized it was discovered that the Grade 6 greyhounds were going to be much worse of than before with no more “beat the grader” and a high number of greyhounds needing to be withdrawn from engagements due to being ineligible if they won. The Grading Review Panel by email reconsidered this information and believes the fairest change to Grade 6 with the separation of Gawler was to allow the two more wins at Gawler for SA Bred greyhounds at the other Gawler track and 1 more win for Non SA Bred making a maximum of 4. There will be more specific details published in next months kennel capers and I want to than the Grading Review Panel for their correspondence.
ICE VESTS AVAILABLE FROM GRSA
With the Hot Weather fast approaching having your own Ice Vest for your greyhound could give you that little edge on your rivals. They are available through the Chairman of Stewards Paul Marks for $100 each. Please contact Paul to place your order.
FIXED ODDS AT ANGLE PARK ON MONDAYS AND THURSDAYS

Trainers are advised that there will be no trials at Murray Bridge on Sunday (29the December) due to staffing availability.
NO TRIALS AT ANGLE PARK NEW YEARS EVE
With New Years Eve falling on next Tuesday night there will be No trials conducted at Angle Park. Due to staffing arrangements the decision was made not to conduct trials on this night.
ELECTRONIC PAYMENTS OVER XMAS AND NEW YEAR
Trainers are reminded that the Trainers Fee on Public Holidays are paid into your bank account. This happens for all public holidays during the year so will also occur for December 26 and January 1st. Prizemoney payments are finalised after Monday nights meeting and normally paid into your account on Wednesdays however payments will be made one day earlier on the Tuesday before Xmas and the Tuesday before New Years Eve.
TREATMENT BOOKS
With the new rules regarding Treatment Books being introduced from the 1st January it is recommended that all trainers keep a documented history of all treatments for each of their greyhounds as per the new rules. GRSA has been in the process of assisting trainers with specific treatment books however they are still being finalised and should be available early in the new year.
2014 ADELAIDE GREYHOUND AUCTION
The Adelaide Greyhound Racing Club (AGRC) in conjunction with GRSA, will once again conduct the Adelaide Greyhound Auction in 2014.

ADELAIDE CUP TO RUN ON FRIDAY NIGHT IN 2014
As announced in the Sunday Mail last weekend the Group 1 Adelaide Cup in 2014 will be run on a Friday night for the first time in the races history. The opportunity came out of the blue, with Greyhound Racing Victoria first approaching GRSA about swapping our Thursday night on Boxing Day to allow the Group 1 Sale Cup, typically in a twilight timeslot, to be run in conjunction with the Sandown Park meeting at night.
As previously advertised we moved Boxing Day to a twilight meeting and requested a Friday night meeting from GRVIC in return. The chance to run our Group 1 on a Friday night was too good an opportunity for us pass up so next year the Adelaide Cup Final will be held on Friday, October 10, however we are still deciding the format of the series and whether to run the heats on the Thursday night, October 2, or Monday night, October 6.
We expect the move will allow more people to attend reaching a larger market and create a bigger atmosphere at Angle Park while also boosting turnover in the lucrative timeslot. We would also continue to work with other States in finding opportunities to improve the profile of racing in South Australia.
