Racing News

Tonight’s meeting at Murray Bridge has some top-class events none other than race 5 over the 455m with the return of Shadow Mist who is resuming from a short let up he is a class act when on song but is facing a top-quality field in this we also have two events over the 680m which makes for an interesting 12 event card! As usual all races are Trifecta and First Four.

Race 1 - The Rasmussen kennel can have another big night and they can kick off with a win with Deadly Mamba out in box 7 he is working towards a win with two placings of late and looks one of the better chances Dashing Jinx will be flying late along with Harbouring. Box Up 1.4.5.7

Race 2 - This is the 1st of the 680’s and Oakvale Impact gets his chance here he has been in the money in his last 5 runs and will prove very hard to beat. Tapestry Tears was a last start winner here after being well supported she is in the mix once again along with Mai Tai Focus who was beaten a nose here last run. Box Up 1.4.6.8

Race 3 - This is a wide-open affair with several chances all coming from wide draws, Out Of Gas has been well travelled of late with wins here and Mount Gambier, he has a good turn of foot and is drawn nicely. Shadow Burner was a last winner from this draw at Gawler and has a terrific record here. Add Nockatunga who has handy short course form from the rails. Box Up 1.2.7.8

Race 4 - Allinga Ollie has been in the money in 7 of his 8 runs at this trip and venue, he has good early pace and looks very hard to beat again on recent runs. Aston Model and Departure Gate have been racing well and can run into the trifecta. Box Up 2.4.5.7

Race 5 - How good is this event as mentioned earlier we see the return of Shadow Mist. He is a class act when on-song and has won 3 from 4 here. He is extremely hard to tip against. Lily Pad loves the inside and has been in terrific form winning three of her last five, she can’t be overlooked. As can’t Danyo’s Charlie who has been scouting wide of late in his races and is drawn to have every chance. Box Up 1.3.5.6

Race 6 - The Greg Board kennel rarely leaves without a winner and Spring Vinnie is a huge chance again tonight. He has won three of his last five and loves this track and is one of the better bets of the night. Rushes is more than capable of surprising if he can find the lead early and Threaten was an eye-catching run last start at Gawler when 2nd in quick time. Box Up 1.4.5.6

Race 7 - Major Major is resuming here tonight he hasn’t raced since running 2nd back in February when the odds-on favourite. He has won both starts here at this venue and is our top pick in this. Woodside Zulu has returned to form with three wins from his last four and is drawn for a forward showing again. Add Aston Hayato who has a heap of speed early for the minors. Box Up 1.2.5.8

Race 8 - Gary’s Miracle led throughout here Monday night for a strong win he has the pace to lead again and will be the one to catch. Alfieri is a classy act, but he can be hit and miss on lid rise. He has won here in quick time in the past from this draw and is the danger. Maximum Refusal was a last start winner at the Mount winning by a massive margin. Box Up 1.2.4.7

Race 9 - This is the 2nd of the 680’s and we will go with Victa Norman down in box 1, he is another who has been racing well of late and from the draw appears one of the better chances. Miss Takiri was placed here last week and should only be improved. Springvale Anna will be running on late. Box Up 1.2.4.6

Race 10 - Allinga Road is the inform runner in this he has won his last three over the short, all in good fashion and has tremendous early pace. Blue By You won over the 515 back in town last run in handy time and is well-drawn and is a definite place chance. Midnight Incy made her debut here last start to finish 3rd after leading early. GRADING OF CITY A MEETINGS WHEN ANGLE PARK SHUTDOWN –

When Angle Park is redeveloped in mid April the below outcomes have been listed below -

  • When Angle Park is shutdown for redevelopment that the City A meetings will be shared with Murray Bridge and Gawler. Murray Bridge will conduct back to back Thursday meetings allowing for Heats and Finals of normal and feature races. Gawler will then run back to back Sundays again allowing for Heats and Finals of normal and feature races. This will mean that there is one Metropolitan (CITY A) meeting per week.
  • Feature 515m races will be run at Gawler over the 531m and any 731m feature races will be run at Murray Bridge over the 680m (the 680m start will be available as the 731m boxes will be removed from Angle Park once redevelopment starts allowing for that distance to be available)
  • There will be a 680m CITY A prizemoney at Murray Bridge each Thursday every week whether City A or Prov 1 to support these stayers during this period.
  • These meetings will be considered as if the greyhounds have never raced at the venue. This will mean greyhounds will be grades Maiden, Grade 6 and Grade 5 to start with unless new into the state and regraded higher.
  • With all grades starting from new (no higher than Grade 5 effectively) there will not be as higher prizemoney races per meeting initially with no high grade races being conducted. There will be a Best 8 each meeting over the 455m, 530m, 680m at Murray Bridge and a 531m and 643m at Gawler for this high grade money. (GRSA will just make up these races). Trainers need to write “No Best 8” on the nomination if they do not want to be in this event. If there are insufficient nominations for a Best 8 the Grader will make up normally graded events based on current policy.
  • The Racing Department intends to run Grade 5 heats on a regular basis but may have to run Grade 4/5 heats to ensure there are races for these dogs. The finals of these races will pay the normal stakemoney for Finals (Grade 5 or Open depending on grade of Heats).
  • The Grader will give preference to 455m or higher at both Murray Bridge City A and Gawler City A meetings with the intent that no short course races will be conducted. However if there was a need to run some short course this would be under “standby conditions.
  •  When a greyhound wins a Grade 5 or above over any distance at the Gawler City A and Murray Bridge City A meetings they will NOT lose any grade 6’s at other venues. The normal rule has been suspended.
  • If a greyhound has already won a Grade 6 (City A) it should be eligible for MB CITY A and GAW CITY A Grade 6 if they have more Grade’s to win as these are considered different tracks. They will still only be able to win one CITY A at each of these meetings if they do not win more races than allowed.
  • There will be NO retrospectivity for Grading when the shutdown of Angle Park occurs.

“BEAT THE GRADER” DURING REDEVELOPMENT

Our normal race schedule generally doesn’t allow for any “Beat the Grader “scenario’s however with the changes to  both Murray Bride Prov 1 and Gawler Prov 1 this is likely to happen which is an added benefit to owners and trainers.

It will be available for the Murray Bridge Monday Prov 1 to Murray Bridge Thursday Prov 1 and then the Murray Bridge Thursday Prov 1 to Murray Bridge Monday Prov 1.

For Gawler the Friday Prov 1 to Sunday Prov 1 could happen however there is only a few days between meetings.

Please contact the Grader for clarification around the “Beat The Grader” policy.
