Thursday Preview - Murray Bridge - 15th April 2021

15/04/2021
Racing News

Well, it’s our first Thursday night at Murray Bridge and we have a strong 12 event program. We have racing over three distances and as always, all events are Trifecta and First Four so good luck, and let’s hope we can back a few winners.

Race 1 - Victa Maggie has been working towards a win. She led everywhere bar the post at her last run in town, she has the pace to kick up and looks a particularly good chance in this. Barcia Khan was placed here last start when well supported and is well drawn. Add Outback Rebel and Pocket Boy for the minors. Box Up 1.2.4.8

Race 2 - The Paul Rehmann youngster Gemtree Maximus can bounce back into the winner’s circle here. he is a class act when on song but will be at skinny odds. Cawbourne Hope has won two from her three starts and can figure in the placings. Agronomous was a last start winner at this track and appears a place chance. Box Up 4 from 1.2.7

Race 3 - There are several chances in this. Time Striker who has been racing well at Gawler and Mercedes Monelli who will be running on strongly, they both appear the main hopes. Add Bottled Fury as she loves to run into the placings. Box Up 1.2.4.7

Race 4 - With only the five runners in this, Meet Joe Black should have plenty of room to move early. He can be very awkward in his races but has a heap of ability. Springvale Anna will be charging late, she drops back in distance tonight and is extraordinarily strong. Another Storm has early pace and is amongst the better chances. Box Up 2.4.5.8

Race 5 - The Murray Bridge Cup winner Air Marshall jumps from box 5 here. He loves this track and is hard to tip against. Victa Caleb has been in the money in 10 of his 15 runs at this venue, he goes well from wide draws and is a threat. Springvale Issy is well drawn and looks a place chance. Box Up 1.2.5.8

Race 6 - This certainly looks a wide-open affair. Ransoms Pride has been in terrific form of late and was placed over this trip last start from box 7. He likes to track wide and is drawn for a bold showing. Galway Express found a heap of trouble at his last run, he is better than that and I would expect a sharp improvement. Box Up 2.3.7.8

Race 7 - Zipping Bates charged home late last start at massive odds to run 2nd down in town. He has only had the 3 runs since transferring to SA and is drawn to have every chance. Plumber has early pace and is another who can figure in the mix. Springvale Arge has been racing well but would need to fly the lids from the wide draw. Box Up 1.2.5.8

Race 8 - Sudden Force was a last start winner in town in quick time from a rail draw, he has the pace to lead here and should be hard to beat. Gary Miracle is a class act when out in front, she has been in fine form and will start the punters elect. Silver Stone and Woodside Zulu are Trifecta hopes. Box Up 2.4.6.7

Race 9 - There is a heap of early pace in this, all coming from the inside two. All Show was a last start winner here and has been in the money in three of his last four he has the draw and is my top pick. Count Me In and Jabari are very capable when on song and will be right in the finish. Box Up 1.2.5.8

Race 10 - The Greg Board kennel rarely go home without a winner and they have a big chance with Spring Vinnie out in box 8. He was a last start winner here in quick time and loves a wide draw. Allinga Ollie and Alfieri both are very smart and are the dangers. Box Up 1.4.5.8

Race 11 - This is over the 680 meters and we will stick with Miss Takiri who was a last winner over the 731 in town she has been racing well and is amongst the better chances. Tapestry Tears likes to track wide in her races and has been racing well also, she won’t be too far away. Joe's Gold is drawn to run a cheeky race. Box Up 1.2.4.5

Race 12 - The final event is a ripper and let’s hope we can go home on a winner with Danyo’s Wylie who has been in outstanding form winning 4 of his last 5. He has the pace to lead and win again. Slick Riot is another who is in form and is in the Rasmussen kennel, he is the main danger. Box up 1.2.4.6

GRADING OF CITY A MEETINGS WHEN ANGLE PARK SHUTDOWN –

When Angle Park is redeveloped in mid April the below outcomes have been listed below -

  • When Angle Park is shutdown for redevelopment that the City A meetings will be shared with Murray Bridge and Gawler. Murray Bridge will conduct back to back Thursday meetings allowing for Heats and Finals of normal and feature races. Gawler will then run back to back Sundays again allowing for Heats and Finals of normal and feature races. This will mean that there is one Metropolitan (CITY A) meeting per week.
  • Feature 515m races will be run at Gawler over the 531m and any 731m feature races will be run at Murray Bridge over the 680m (the 680m start will be available as the 731m boxes will be removed from Angle Park once redevelopment starts allowing for that distance to be available)
  • There will be a 680m CITY A prizemoney at Murray Bridge each Thursday every week whether City A or Prov 1 to support these stayers during this period.
  • These meetings will be considered as if the greyhounds have never raced at the venue. This will mean greyhounds will be grades Maiden, Grade 6 and Grade 5 to start with unless new into the state and regraded higher.
  • With all grades starting from new (no higher than Grade 5 effectively) there will not be as higher prizemoney races per meeting initially with no high grade races being conducted. There will be a Best 8 each meeting over the 455m, 530m, 680m at Murray Bridge and a 531m and 643m at Gawler for this high grade money. (GRSA will just make up these races). Trainers need to write “No Best 8” on the nomination if they do not want to be in this event. If there are insufficient nominations for a Best 8 the Grader will make up normally graded events based on current policy.
  • The Racing Department intends to run Grade 5 heats on a regular basis but may have to run Grade 4/5 heats to ensure there are races for these dogs. The finals of these races will pay the normal stakemoney for Finals (Grade 5 or Open depending on grade of Heats).
  • The Grader will give preference to 455m or higher at both Murray Bridge City A and Gawler City A meetings with the intent that no short course races will be conducted. However if there was a need to run some short course this would be under “standby conditions.
  •  When a greyhound wins a Grade 5 or above over any distance at the Gawler City A and Murray Bridge City A meetings they will NOT lose any grade 6’s at other venues. The normal rule has been suspended.
  • If a greyhound has already won a Grade 6 (City A) it should be eligible for MB CITY A and GAW CITY A Grade 6 if they have more Grade’s to win as these are considered different tracks. They will still only be able to win one CITY A at each of these meetings if they do not win more races than allowed.
  • There will be NO retrospectivity for Grading when the shutdown of Angle Park occurs.

“BEAT THE GRADER” DURING REDEVELOPMENT

Our normal race schedule generally doesn’t allow for any “Beat the Grader “scenario’s however with the changes to  both Murray Bride Prov 1 and Gawler Prov 1 this is likely to happen which is an added benefit to owners and trainers.

It will be available for the Murray Bridge Monday Prov 1 to Murray Bridge Thursday Prov 1 and then the Murray Bridge Thursday Prov 1 to Murray Bridge Monday Prov 1.

For Gawler the Friday Prov 1 to Sunday Prov 1 could happen however there is only a few days between meetings.

Please contact the Grader for clarification around the “Beat The Grader” policy.
