Three SA chasers into Flying Amy final

Star chaser Victa Damian produced another impressive performance as the Rasmussen team enjoyed a fantastic night at Albion Park in Queensland on Thursday night. 


The Rasmussen team will have three runners in the final of the Group 2 Flying Amy final next week with Victa Damian, Victa Marli and Victa Alby all winning heats to progress through. 


In the first heat of the night, Victa Marli produced an excellent run after jumping well from box seven and getting to the lead with a strong first section.  Challenged down the back by Rocket Riot and Obliging Travis, Victa Marli was able to kick away on the home straight and win by a length in 30.46.


In the second heat, Victa Damian overcame a check on the first turn powering through its gears down the back straight and kicking away to win in a time of 30.03.

 


In the final heat, Victa Alby made it three runners into the final for the Rasmussen team producing an excellent performance to hold off a fast-finishing Blue Hornet.  After no luck in the Howard Ashton final. Victa Alby was able to regain its best form which saw it claim the Anniversary Cup in Aprile winning in a slick time of 30.09.


The Rasmussen team’s other runner Live It was able to back up its second-place finish in the Howard Ashton with an impressive run to finish fifth in heat six. 


The final will be held next Thursday night at Albion Park with the box draw being conducted after the heats last night. 
Victa Damian has drawn well again in box two and it will have Victa Alby on its outside in box three while Victa Marli will be on the outside in box eight. 


South Australian runners also enjoyed a good night in Victoria with SA-bred Bobby Axelrod claiming the special event Judy Hayley Memorial at Sandown Park.


Despite drawing the blue rug, it had plenty of cover to the inside and was able to find the rail and open up for a big win stopping the clock in 29.24 and winning by 10 lengths.
