There was a strong crowd at the Gawler Greyhound club on Sunday Night to see an eleven race program. It was another big night for the Trengove family who took out three winners between them. It all kicked off in race two with Jack Trengove scoring with his talented chaser Hiring. He jumped away well from box number seven and chased down the early leader Spring Bonnie for a handy victory. It was win number five for Hiring from 18 career starts. He recently made the final of the Group 3 SA Derby at Angle Park. He looks to have a strong future ahead of him. Jack Trengove has had some impressive results as a trainer since making the move from Broken Hill to Two Wells a few months back.

Clint Trengove also had a big night. He scored a race to race double when he took out race three and four. Bella Rocks saluted in race three after avoiding trouble and showing great field navigation to get down to the rail and lead for a majority of the race. Victa Jess took out race four when she ran home strongly to run a time of 31.19 and make it career win number nine. Clint also managed to score a double at Mount Gambier earlier in the day when his greyhounds It’s Smudgy and For Five Seconds both scored wins in the South East. So in total he had four winners at two different tracks on the same day. That is a massive training performance.

Trainer Troy Murray continued his winning form with another double. His greyhound Beatific had his first win since May and his honest chaser Lana Roads scored another victory in the last race. Nicole Price also managed to score another Sunday night double with Dusty Country winning impressively over the short course and the ex-Queenslander Patched led all the way to run 22.81 which was the best time of the night over the 400 meters. Another highlight was Graeme Stirling making it two wins in a week with Emerley Together over the 531 meters.

A big month of racing is coming up in Gawler with the first addition of the Gawler Carnival of Cups quickly approaching. The carnival will kick off on Friday the 15th of October and will conclude on Sunday the 24th of October with the Gawler Greyhound cup. The carnival will see all three racing codes showcase cup meetings throughout the week which will be a big boost for the Gawler community.
