Blustery and cooler conditions greeted us for 11 races at the Bridge.

A maiden over the 395m kicked us off the for card and Spring Candice started a very warm favourite from box 7. We also saw the last ‘Victa’ dog to make their debut in Victa Oreo from the Fernando Bale x Victa Victoria litter. The race changed complexion pretty quickly when the rough outsider of the field Danyo’s Clint fired out of the boxes and never looked like stopping in a 5.06-22.55 gallop. Trainers Kellie and Noel Watson are having a nice little run at the moment. Race 2 was a very even grade 6 over the 395m. Fleurieu Flyer and Mighty Redeemer put a gap on the field. Fleurieu looked to have the measure of Mighty Redeemer as they turned for home, however Mighty Redeemer railed up and hit the front to land a very neat win. She’s Amigo started favourite in the third and rightfully so given her wide draw and good form, however it was Allinga Road who showed his true ability and led the field comfortably, before landing a quick 4.99-22.31 win. Cawbourne Hope backed up again after landing a monster plunge last week and started favourite in an even grade 6 over the 395m. She jumped better than last week and quickly asserted her dominance on the field to win by 4 lengths in a nice 5.10-22.33. She looks to be a bitch with a future.

Race 5 was a pretty competitive grade 5 over the 395m. The run to the first turn was very hot and got a bit messy. The well backed commodity Like A Librarian got spat out the back and Miss Cola was able to get through in what turned out to be a race winning move. The Murray Bridge rocket stepped out in the 6th of the day with Slick Riot starting a hot favourite. The race was over after about 5 strides and all eyes were on the clock with Slick Riot going around in scintillating 4.93-21.95 as he prepared for a step up to the 455m trip. The grade 6 series final over the 455m brought together a strong field for the 7th of the day. Dakota Hummer and Wreck It Sadie set the pace early in the race before Wreck It Sadie got other ideas and opened up the heavens for Magic Ozzie to rail through. The Vern Anderson trained dog scraped the paint the entire way round the bend and landed another deserved victory. We got to see the rockstar that is Spring Vinnie step out in the 8th of the day. After an unsuccessful run over the 515m at Angle Park, he came back to his home track and made an almighty statement. He got a clear run early and pounced, zooming around in a 7.96-25.09 run, just shy of the track record. I wonder if we are any chance to see him line up in a country cup in Victoria soon?

The 9th was a grade 6 over the 455m and what a race that eventuated out to be. Aston Maximus and Didelis led the running early and looked as if they were going to battle out the finish. These two fanned off on the home turn and Nockatunga was able to power through, before landing a terrific win in a superb finish, with four dogs finishing within a length of each other. The 10th was the four dog 530m race of the day and it was the outsider of the field Meet Joe Black who was able to land a terrific win, beating Alfieri and Shanlyn Charlotte by a length. The time was super and 29.64 is only a length off Razor’s Edge track record. The last race of the day saw Beatific starting a warm favourite from box 4. Zipping Opal was able to fire out and lead the field with Black Panda not far behind her, as they gapped the field. Opal looked to be home however Black Panda rallied hard late and was able to grab Zipping Opal in a terrific race. The panda clocking 5.07-22.26.

Dog to follow: Like A Librarian - He’s a dog who has a couple of quirks, he was first up off a little 3 week freshen up and I thought his run was really good. He is a dog who doesn’t cope with pressure too well and that was evident again, however I thought it was a much improved effort off his previous few runs. The money was on him today to suggest he is going well and his run confirmed that. Not really sure where he will line up next, but if he can draw a wide box or a field without much early speed then he will be a great bet.

No racing next Friday, have a wonderful Easter break!

Tuesday Preview

10 races this week and some nice types engaged. We get to see the Murray Bridge straight specialist in Lavish Predo strut his stuff as he faces the young buck Wreck It Master. The grade 6 final over the 350m will be a cracker as well with the Bangor dogs set to battle that out.

Best Bet - (Ransom’s Pride - Race 6, Box #2)
This boy can really run and showed that with his monster first up effort last week. I think Allinge Ollie starts favourite in this and you get a price, Ransom’s Pride is a big boy and needs a bit of room but he has Banjo Riley outside him and he wouldn’t know what the rail looks like, so will give Ransom’s Pride room. Allinga Grin should jump and clear out, so it will be a case of whether Ransom’s Pride is good enough to run down Alinga Grin and Allinga Ollie, I think he is.
