Swinging Forts continues ripping form!
Wednesday
It was a good day on Wednesday for 12 races at Gawler.
The card started with a very solid betting plunge for the Manuel Stuppos trained Strung Out, who was having her second career start. Coming out of box two, punters were confident with the $3.50-$1.65 move. She left the boxes well but had to work mid race outside of the dog underneath her, but did so nicely, before powering away on the turn and winning by 9 lengths! A fantastic maiden win and I am sure their were some happy punters that would agree.
Graham Brown had a terrific day at Gawler, with two very handy winners. Chewdini was the first, with the black bitch putting on a fantastic railing display from box two, to win by 3 lengths in a handy 23.11. His other winner also came out of box two, with Flaming Bubbles leading all the way, winning in 23.24. Graham has only had the four starters this year, which has netted a tidy 3 winners!
Clint Trengove has been picking up a host of interstate dogs in recent times, and he unveiled another one on Tuesday in the form of French Wish. She had previously won her past two starts at the expansive Grafton circuit in NSW. After starting an odds on favourite, she had no troubles in handling the Gawler track, firing out in an electric 8.54 first split, before clocking a very quick 22.75. I suspect the win on Wednesday will be the first of quite a few.
Friday
The Rasmussen team of Tony and Lisa combined for three winners on the Friday card. The promising Queen Of Scotch was the first to get on the winners list, with an impressive first up effort on the track. She jumped well from box one but wanted to shift up the track, which meant she had to ride a couple of bumps and lost some ground. She was able to regain momentum though, before getting up by a small margin in 23.00. Canya Angel was the next winner, with an all the way effort from box eight. She jumped well and just proved too quick for the others, scoring in a handy 22.95. Jalapeno Lad was the third and his win was quite impressive. Up against a red hot favourite in Springvale Rex, Jalapeno Lad came out well but had to work hard as he wanted to get down to the rail. He ended up settling third in the run, behind the favourite, but proved a bit too smart as he took a rails run on the home turn and scooted clear, clocking 30.93 in what was a ripping run. Well done to the Rasmussen team.
Swinging Forts has been in outstanding form recently and that continued on Friday with another great win. He came out from box seven, and used it to perfection, staying up the track before swooping on the leaders late. He was able to arrive in time and win in a cracking 22.84. Marcello Calicchio is doing a great job with him, along with Hot Rocks who has just joined the kennel too. Marcello has landed 5 wins from the last 9 starters he has produced, so he is definitely going well!
Patina worked her magic again on Friday to score a very strong victory. She only came out fairly which is customary for her, but the work she does mid race is sensational and with that she was able to get herself in a prominent spot as they hit the turn. She was able to capitalise on that in the end, picking up the leader and sailing on by, winning in 22.93. A great win and she is a real pleasure to watch!
