Friday (One-turn)

Despite the weather being less than ideal, we saw an excellent day of racing with a couple of handy performances put together.

Tracie Price ventured to Murray Bridge and had a successful day, landing two rather impressive winners. Whiskey Chaser was first and he was having his first start at the Bridge, with box eight to deal with over the 395m trip.

After being slow away, he was midfield and out deep but started to make as he headed into the turn but ran up the heels of the leaders and lost a couple of lengths.

Despite the slight interference, he was able to balance up again and charge down the home straight, getting up narrowly in 22.80.

Mister Banjo made it two winners for Price as he relished a drop in class from his recent racing. He had box four in a grade 6 over the 395m and did things very easily, leading all the way in in a fast 22.35.

The Rasmussen team of Tony and Lisa have been having a massive run lately with the kennel and they followed up on their Group 3 Howard Ashton success on Thursday with a combined four winners on Friday at the Bridge.

The most impressive winner was Canya Razor, who put together a strong run to take out the fast class race over the 395m distance. After being led early from box one, he just stuck to the rail and made his move in the straight, powering through and winning in an equal best of the day 22.31. The other winners for the Rasmussen team were Victa Fredda, Bernardo Bowl and Victa Kerle.

Dog to follow: Sweet Sensation - She is absolutely flying and recorded an equal best of the day win, with a comprehensive 22.31 effort on Friday. With her early speed, she will be hard to beat wherever she goes next.

Tuesday (Straight track)

The sensational run that Ashlee Griffiths and Cameron Forshaw have been having as a training duo continued on Tuesday, with Cash On Delivery taking out the 2023 Murray Bridge Straight Track Cup.

Cash On Delivery started favourite for the event, and when he flew out in a dazzling 6.80 first split, it was able to open a large mid-race lead.

The closers did start to come late and Cash On Delivery did start to tire, however he was never going to lose with the lead he had set up winning in a sensational 18.88.

It beat home the Dave Peckham trained Aston Ziebell and the Ben Rawlings trained Federal Outlaw.

Whilst Dave Peckham could only manage second in the big final with Aston Ziebell, he did have a terrific day overall, picking up a double for the afternoon.

Federal Flash was the first of the two, as back in a grade 6 over the 300m and from box eight, he came out really well and went to the early lead and glided along out in front before winning in 16.61.

The electric Cawbourne Stella stepped up to the 350m trip but handled it with no problems winning from box one. It’s first split was a super quick 6.87 before winning by two lengths in 19.14.

Graham Smith would have been thrilled with the win of Woodside Gracie, who finally got an elusive victory after putting plenty of good efforts recently.

From box four, she was well supported in the 300m event and started favourite as a result. After leaving a tad slowly, she was able to get to the outside trouble free and looked a big chance from there, as she set her sights on the leader.

It took a while longer than expected and took her right to the very end, but she was determined and just on the line was able to get her down and win in a sharp 16.77.

Dog to follow: Flying Embers - Comes through the Woodside Gracie race and was excellent, going down by a pimple in quick time. He’s improving which each start and does things right, so definitely worth being on his side in the future.
