STEWARDS NOTICE – Deletion of Local Rule – Consecutive Day Racing
__________________________________________________

GRSA Stewards recently considered the impact of a historical Local Rule being removed from the Rulebook. LR 63 prevented greyhounds from competing in an event on consecutive days in South Australia with the exception of greyhounds qualified for semi-finals, finals and two-day coursing meetings.

A national Rule now captures the spirit of this important animal welfare commitment and there are no specific local circumstances for a need for the Local Rule to remain in place.

As a result, GRSA will delete LR 63. This change will take effect as of 1 April 2019.

Trainers are reminded the onus is on them to ensure greyhounds that make it through to semi-finals and finals, will need to manage other nominations to ensure they are not engaged to race on consecutive days. A penalty may be imposed in instances where nominations do not comply with the Rule.
