Stewards today 6th January 2014 completed an inquiry into an incident which occurred at the Angle Park Meeting conducted on the 19th December 2013.

Stewards after taking into consideration evidence from Registered Owners  Mr Troy and Ben Volbrecht and GRSA staff, formed the opinion there was sufficient evidence to lay  a charge against  Mr. Ben Volbrecht under Greyhound Racing 86(o) which reads:

 OFFENCES, INQUIRIES and PENALTIES

R86 Offences

A person (including an official) shall be guilty of an offence if the person

(o) has, in relation to a greyhound or greyhound racing, done a thing, or omitted to do a thing, which, in the opinion of the Stewards or the Controlling Body, as the case may be, is negligent,dishonest, corrupt, fraudulent or improper, or constitutes misconduct;

After pleading guilty to the charge of misconduct  Mr. Ben Volbrecht was fined the sum of $450 with $200 being suspended for a period of 12 months on the condition that he not breach a similar rule, within that time frame.

Stewards advised Mr Troy Volbrecht that based on the evidence presented they believed he had attempted to act as a mediator during the incident, and as a result no further action was taken.
