Last night at Angle Park the Stayers Cup Final was run for 2014 with a small but quality field contesting the 731m journey. Exciting prospect Psychotic Gold for trainer Petar Jovanovic who won last weeks Prelude took on the promising Long Gully Surf for trainer Paula Hearnden and they dominated the market being sent out virtual joint favourites. As the lids flew open for the start Manila Express jumped to the front with Psychotic Gold in hot pursuit with Long Gully Surf dropping out to last. As they raced down the back straight Psychotic Gold made her race winning move challenging Manila Express and running to the front with Zara McLaren starting to make good ground with Long Gully Surf struggling to get warm. Turning for home the race was over with the Jovanovic stayer racing away for a strong win over Zara McLaren and Long Gully Surf who only hit is straps late in the final straight. Psychotic Gold ran a slick 43.19 for the 731m journey and now takes her career to 3 wins and 3 placings from 13 starts and almost $10,000 in prizemoney.
