Stakemoney and Schedule Changes

Greyhound Racing will introduce the following three stakemoney changes to coincide with the recommencement of racing at Angle Park on Thursday, August 26th:

1.      HOME AND AWAY TRAINER FEE

The home and away trainer fee will remain in place for registered trainers with runners entered at their ‘away’ regional tracks, on the condition that the registered trainer physically attends that meeting. The current framework for allocating a trainer’s ‘home’ regional track will remain the same – with Angle Park meetings falling outside this strategy as it is classed as a metropolitan track.

2.      SUPPORT FEE – MT GAMBIER TRAVEL

The support fee of $75 will be removed for trainers who travel to and from Mt Gambier. GRSA will continue to monitor the impact of border restrictions and any need for future support.

On a related note, the Board has resolved to retain the $75 Remote Trainers Fee, which applies to registered trainers whose registered premises are more than 150km from their nearest TAB track.

3.      STRAIGHT-TRACK WEEKLY RACING

Weekly straight-track racing will be permanently introduced at Murray Bridge in the Tuesday timeslot. This will replace the current scheduling pattern of straight-track racing occurring on 2 of every 3 weeks.

Separately, payments for staying events have recently been increased from July 1st to align with open class payments for middle distance events. This increases the 1st prize for staying events as follows:

  • Category 1              From $3,325 to $3,915 (an increase of $590)
  • Category 2              From $1,335 to $1,590 (an increase of $255)
  • Category 3              From $735 to $880 (an increase of $145)

These changes will be introduced in conjunction with racing returning to Angle Park following the current redevelopment project.
