Short Course Expert Dakota Hummer Scores 18th Win
Greyhound racing returned to Gawler on Wednesday afternoon with a twelve race program. One of the highlights of the meeting was race six. We saw a strong field of six compete over 400 meters. The race favourite was Dakota Hummer trained by Two Wells trainer Colin Simes. He was at the short price of $1.85 and that price was justified again after he showed great courage to win. He jumped away the best from box two but he wasn’t able to cross down to the rail which meant he was covering a lot of ground. Time Striker who began from box one held the inside position which kept Dakota Hummer wide. The Hummer found something though and showed a turn of speed up the straight to win by a half length. That was his 18th career win and his fourteenth short course win. He's been a very handy greyhound for Colin who has had him for his entire career.

Also on Wednesday smart chaser Oakvale Style would have her first start for successful Lewiston trainer Nicole Price. Oakvale Style is owned by Nathan and Kerri Wilson. Nathan has trained her for a majority of her career and has had a lot of success with her. She has had 58 starts for 19 wins. She made it win number 19 on Wednesday when she had her first start for Nicole. She ran a time of 22.92 and won by 4 lengths. It was great to see Oakvale Style return to some of her old form. The fastest time of the day on Wednesday went to Chicks Love Me who ran a time of 22.60 for trainer Troy Murray. Troy scored a double for the with Dare To Struggle winning earlier on in the day.
We saw 10 races on Friday afternoon at Gawler as well. Ben Rawlings had a strong day out scoring a double. His first win came in race four when Psychotic Babe led all of the way from box one and ran a time of 22.87. Classy Chaos would provide Rawlings with his second and final win for the day in race eight running a time of 22.89. Steven Brook scored a double earlier on in the program when Zipping Abilene won race one over 643 meters running a time of 37.96.
