2015 LADBROKES NATIONAL DISTANCE AND SPRINT CHAMPIONSHIP

SA SERIES – REVIEW

PSYCHOTIC GOLD OFF TO NSW FOR THE NATIONALS

With less than a length separating the first four past the post in last nights SA National Distance Final it was Psychotic Gold for master trainer Petar Jovanovic who timed her run to perfection to claim the prize in a solid 43.48 for the 731m journey.

Psychotic Gold came from a long way back to run down tearaway leader Placid Planet for trainer Ben Rawlings by a nose that did a super job to almost hang on at only his fourth start over the staying trip. The Gavin Harris trained kennel mates were far from disgraced with staying star Luna Jinx flashing home to grab third after being worse than midfield when they turned for home and Springvale Clint who poked up the inside for a handy fourth.

Psychotic Gold has now won 17 races with 12 placing’s from 42 starts and almost $72,000 in prizemoney. She will represent SA at the National Championships to be held at Wentworth Park in NSW on Saturday 22nd August and we wish her and her connections the best of luck.

ALEX’S ENTITY UPSTAGES HIS RIVALS IN THE SPRINT SERIES

Young up and coming trainer Ben Rawlings put the disappointment of Placid Planet just missing a trip to the Nationals in the Distance Final when Alex’s Entity upset his rivals in the SA National Sprint Final and will now join Psychotic Gold on the plane to New South Wales.

Alex’s Entity was sent out on the fourth line of betting and began nicely from box 3. He raced nice and handy until taking over from initial leader Emerley Senorita off the back straight where he was able to kick clear and hang on for a memorable victory. A huge crowd of supporters were on hand to see Alex’s Entity defeated Real Flash for trainer Troy Murray by 1 ¾ lengths in a flying 29.86. Real Flash again was slow out but showed her ability by rattling home to grab second while Young Gun McBain continued his excellent form with a solid third.

Alex’s Entity has now won 14 races from 32 starts, with 10 minor placings and almost $46,000 in prizemoney. Both Ben and Alex’s Entity will now be chasing Group 1 glory in NSW later this month and we wish them the best of luck.
