Richards, Roz enjoy big weeks at the Bridge
Vadim Roz Picks Up A Straight Track Treble
Sunday Meeting
Tim Richards enjoyed a terrific evening at The Bridge for our Sunday night card, collecting a pair of winners. Canya Striker was the first as he lined up for his first start in South Australia, stepping out over the 530m trip from box six. Having shown a bit of ability in Victoria, he started well in the market but things looked a bit dicey early as he was shuffled back with the field tightening up around the turn. Midrace he found himself about five lengths off the leader and with plenty to do, but was striding out strongly and making quick ground. Around the turn, he looked a huge threat, quickly levelling up to the front before storming away in the straight, winning by a widening four lengths in 30.10. A terrific display and that won’t be the last time he is winning! Tim later took out the last of the night with Manner Of Strife handling box eight perfectly over the 395m trip. It was an even getaway from the grade 6 field, but Manner Of Strife had a brilliant turn of foot, which saw him shoot around to the front and put a few lengths on the field in an instant. With a big lead set up around the turn, he looked to have the race in control and despite going wide in the straight, he had done more than enough and won well in 22.50.
Allendale based Kevin Patzel found some well deserved success on the night too, also collecting a training double. Aston Reims lined up in a grade 6 over the sprint trip. In a small field of four, the black dog was able to cross over from a wide draw and find the front, which meant he had the race at his command. With a small margin set up around the turn, he did things nicely and never let the others close that margin, running the race out strongly to win by two lengths in a sharp 22.34. A brilliant best of the night performance from Wario completed the double, with the black dog continuing the box eight theme of the night with a blistering performance over the 395m sprint. Starting an incredibly short favourite, he left the boxes well and blasted his way to the front early. At no point was he ever in any doubt, as he won in totally dominant fashion, winning by 8 lengths in a flying 22.05 time. A brilliant run and a great night for Kevin.
Tuesday (Straight track)
Vadim Roz has been making some trips up to the straight in recent times and on Tuesday he had a terrific day out, training a trio of winners. Outshine (Shima Shine x Spring Lilac) took out the first, with the black dog making it a perfect debut. From box four over the 300m trip, he stepped a bit slowly but was given plenty of room to work with. After making the most of the big space given to him and working to the rails midrace, he started to power home. With 100m to go, he hit the front and really charged to the line before winning in a handy 17.04, ahead of the kennelmate Jungle Boogie. Yarramundi Opal lined up in a grade 6 over the 350m trip and started as one of the favourites in the race. From box three, the black bitch nailed the start and went straight to the early lead. Given her strength, she was always going to take a world of beating and that proved the case as she glided up the straight to win by three lengths in a slick 19.35. Magpie Harry rounded out the treble for Vadim, taking out the last of the day over the 300m sprint. From a sticky box six draw, he jumped okay and was given some room early, but as he started to make ground midrace he found himself in a bumping duel which cost him a couple of lengths. Despite this, he pushed his way to a length lead with the finish line approaching, however right near the line he did begin to slow and the challengers came, but he gripped on to win by the narrowest of margins in 16.96. A terrific afternoon out for Vadim and he is certainly finding some success up the straight!
Tania Foster doesn’t have a huge team but she collected a training double on the card. The talented, but inconsistent Caesar returned to the winners list for the first time since early this year, taking out his grade 6 over the 300m sprint, which was his fourth start back from a lengthy spell. From box four, he jumped quickly and went straight to the early lead. Traditionally a strong dog, he was never going to be caught and waltzed his way up the straight, with the race in total control the entire way. He stopped the clock at 16.95 and won dominantly by four lengths. Little Miss Hugs completed the double for Tania, winning over the 300m trip. In a small field, she drew box eight and started well in the market. With a fast start, she went to the lead out of the boxes and stayed well up the track and avoided any trouble. It was a brilliant tussle right the way home between her and Fantastic Freddy who was on the inside, but in the end the fawn bitch was just a tad too sharp, winning by a nose in 17.06.
