Resurgence Wins First Up from a Spell
Neil Mann is a very popular figure in the greyhound industry. Neil only has a small team of greyhounds at the moment but his strike rate at a trainer is pretty good. Ex Victorian greyhound Resurgence had his first start in South Australia for Neil in December last year. It took him a while to reach the winners list but he won his first race in South Australia before going on a spell at Angle Park. On Friday afternoon at Gawler he lined up for his race start since late January. He met a pretty even field over 531 meters. He was drawn in box five and didn’t show the biggest amount of early speed. His lack of early speed didn’t matter though when he showed great field sense to dodge other greyhounds and find the lead on the first turn. He went on to win the race by four and a half lengths. He ran a time of 30.81 which isn’t bad considering it was his first look at the track.
We have seen a lot of quick times over the last month at the Gawler track. One of the biggest runs of the day on Friday afternoon was Molly Blinders winning race eleven for trainer Paul Fagan. Paul’s kennel has been on fire recently. Molly Blinders began from box one and led all of the way to run a time of 22.42 over 400 meters which is absolutely flying.
Other impressive performances on Friday included Maxwell Hammer winning race 5 for in form trainer Steven Brook. He ran a quick time time of 22.58 from box eight. Gonzaga for trainer Kevin Bewley also ran a quick time of 22.66 in race four. Long Gully Roger took out race six in another quick time of 22.65 for trainer Paula Hearnden. I think it’s fair to say the track maintenance team have the track on fire at the moment.
Greyhound racing returns to Gawler on Sunday Night this week. Make sure you head up to the Nixon’s Function Centre for a meal and enjoy some fast greyhound racing at the same time.
