The past week at the Bridge…

Tuesday (Straight Track)

12 races last Tuesday up the straight with a mix of TG and graded races.

Kathy Johnstone kicked off the card with Just Buffy (Lightning Frank x Excuses Moi) breaking her maiden in really good fashion. She wasn’t given much respect in the market but won like a good thing in 17.40.

Dave Rundle produced his dog - Rock The Sky after a two month layoff. He landed in a reasonably tricky grade 6, but that didn’t worry him as he won in emphatic style. He clocked 16.99 for his efforts and signified a really good training effort from Dave.

The race of the day was taken out by Man Absconded, as he continued his brilliant form in SA. He stepped up to the 350m journey for the first time and had to face a couple of handy ones in Reel It In and Hovey’s Bourbon, but he was far too good for them. He went all the way in a slick 6.98-19.37, which was also the best of the day.

Lewis Green was also able to help himself to a winner, with Wood Burn getting the nod in a close finish for the 10th of the day. Lewis lives in Parwan, Victoria which is roughly 6 hours away from Murray Bridge, so it was a deserved winner!

Dog to follow: Thunder King - Was first up for a month on Tuesday and straight into a 350m race. He came out pretty ordinary but I thought his work mid race and late was really encouraging for a first up effort, particularly as he got past a couple of handy ones.

Friday (1-Turn)

Back to our Friday slot for 11 races last week and Bob Fletcher got the ball rolling with Claretown Tina lobbing in the first. She started favourite from box 8, and after crossing over early with a quick 5.06 first split, she was always in control, going on to win in 22.58.

Queen Of Fire showed how good she is when she won the third of the day by a massive 8 lengths, in a very slick 4.98-22.15. She was only having her third start for the airborne Clint Trengove kennel, and she seems destined to win a few here.

Neville Loechel landed a race to race double with Weblec Mist and Weblec Nova. Both were really impressive in their efforts, coming out slowly before powering home for terrific victories.

Allinga Ollie continued his outstanding form, clocking another fast win. It was a pretty strong grade 3/4 race over the 395m trip but Ollie was simply far too good as he fired away with an all the way 4.96-22.26 effort. That made it 5 wins from his last 7 starts.

Troy Murray stole the show for the day with a treble. Chicks Love Me got things started for him, before Lala Juniper, which was having it’s first start for his kennel, won nicely in 22.57. She’s A Hotshot rounded out the day with a tough 22.34 win. Troy has had a good start to the year with 7 winners thus far.

Dog to follow: Danyo’s Mercy - A bitch that’s just racing really well. She consistently comes out cleanly and gives it her all each week. If she can just draw a good box shortly then she will be hard to roll.
