TELLING THE TAIL by The Shadow

Tonight’s 11 event programme appears fairly even across the board with the highlight being race 8 the 2014 Breeders Prelude (1) final and we see the exciting Luna Jinx in race 4. There are several good things so we should get a good start to build the bank for Easter.

Race 1 and we tipped her last week and she led throughout,  Dyna Hula out in box 7 tonight should carve across early and make it 4 on end.  The main dangers look to be Noble Kahn who has been struggling of late along with Senni Tony, who will be rattling home late.  Box up 1.3.6.7.

The second event and this is a very open affair.  I have gone with Multiply By For down in box 1.  On his last start win here in 30.19 he should be cherry ripe.  The placing’s look wide open so box up 1.2.3.7.

Race 3 and Encosta Kahn can break back into the winners circle from box 2.  He can kick up early and score.  Junta Bale is out in box 8 and will need to be handy early to run into the placing’s.  The others look to be either the 3 or the 5.  Box up 2.3.5.8.

The distance affair is race 4 and it would be a brave person to tip against Luna Jinx.  She looks a class above them and will start at very skinny odds from box 7.  Take her one out in the trifecta tonight.  Trifecta  7-2.4.5.

Race 5 and I have tipped the pacey Cairnlea Layla from box 8.  She loves a wide draw and carved out a slick 29.55 here last start from box 7, but is another who will be very short.  Dyna Quistis can fill a place from box 2 along with Tyson Willow.  Box up 8.2.5.6.

Race 6 and Mr. Donatello returned to form with a win here last start from this draw in 29.66 and can win again.  Nebula along with Regal Looper for the placings.  Box up 1.5.6.7.

The seveneth and this looks a good betting race with a heap of chances.  I like the outside 3 but the Murray kennel has a newcomer down in box 1 in Rulebook and my spies have told me he has a black dog trialling well.  Box up 1.6.7.8.

Race 8 and we should see Sidney’s Shadow bounce back from box 3 and lead throughout in a very good race.  There are a heap of chances for the placing’s.  Box up 3.5.7.8.

Race 9 the 600m event and Doona Bale is dropping back from the 700m and should ping and lead from box 7 and prove too strong.  Fair Change is well drawn out in the pink along with Defib Daryl.  Box up 1.6.7.8.

The tenth and Big Zap from the red should hopefully improve his box manners. Springvale Cosmo is on the improve with several placing’s here and will be right in the mix along with the 8 runner.  Box up 1.5.6.8.

The final event and I am going with a newcomer in the Jovanovic kennel in Stop Scrammin.  He has 8 wins and 11 placing’s next to his name from 40 starts and is sure to be well tried on his SA debut.  Box up 1.2.5.6.

LOCAL INDUSTRY NEWS

BREEDERS 2014 PRELUDE (1) FINAL

The feature on tonight’s strong 11 event card at Angle Park is the final of the $4,800 Breeders 2014 Prelude (1) Final.

There were 5 heats conducted last Wednesday with the Peter Hurley trained Rebel Kist the fastest qualifier running a flying 29.68 just ahead of the Des Hockley trained Wingard who was brilliant in winning in 29.71. Other heat winners were Winbrook (29.99), Nevada Smith (30.00) and Mombasa Boy (30.00).

Race favourite however does look to be the Cameron Butcher trained Sidney’s Shadow who was beaten by Rebel Kist in the heat but has shown her class recently in the SA Sprint Championship series and SA St Leger victory last month. The Breeders 2014 series looks one of the strongest that we have had highlighted by tonight’s final which makes for some great racing in the coming months. Good luck to all connections tonight.

The next prelude in this series will be run on Wednesday 16th April with the heats conducted and the Final on Thursday 24th April.  Nominations close on Friday 11th April at 9.00am.

GAWLER SOUTH BAKERY FREE FOR ALL FINAL ON TUESDAY

The $2,550 Gawler South Bakery final will be run on Tuesday after two exciting heats this week. Whilst both heats only had five runners compete the quality was of the highest level with blistering times recorded. Fresh from his 29.40 victory at Angle Park the Troy Murray trained Emerley Lover won the first heat in a blistering 30.56 defeating Long Gully Court and Sheza Diva. Star chaser Fire Tyson for Tony Lagana was very impressive in winning his heat recording a slick 30.75 win defeating Chemical Maker and Kenso Karoo. It all makes for a super final this Tuesday at Gawler.

LICENSE RENEWALS EXTENDED UNTIL 30TH JUNE 2014

Please be advised that you will now have until 30th June 2014 to renew your license. GRSA has made the change to fall in line with the rest of Australia and also accommodate the Ozchase system. So the 30th June is the new date however it is vital that you license before the cut of time to ensure no greyhounds will miss a run. Check with Owners locally and from Interstate as these were issues last year and get the licenses renewed well and truly before June 30. Renewals will be sent out in early June.

EXOTIC BETTING FOR DAY MEETINGS
Punters please be aware that all South Australian day meetings covered by TattsBet have their exotics the same as twilight and night
meetings which means that the Quadrella is now on races 5 to 8.

GOTBA COURSING BEGINS IN MAY

A reminder to participants that GOTBA Coursing starts in May this season on 5th May. Normally the club will have a racing date in April however as this was initially over Easter it was decided to hold off for two weeks.

ICG MEETING ON 4TH APRIL

The next ICG meeting will be held on Friday 4th April at GRSA. The Agenda has been sent out so please contact any of the panel members for comment before the meeting.

BREEDERS REBATE FOR MISSED LITTER

From the previous Breeders Task Force meeting back in March 2013 the panel made an amendment to the Breeders Rebate conditions that if a bitch misses or the pups are still born then a rebate can be claimed for the sunk cost associated with that mating. This will however be considered as one of the two rebates allowed in each financial year and is likely to be largely restricted to reimbursement of veterinary expense (maximum $600). Rebates under these circumstances will not include the stud fee because it is assumed that a condition of the mating is that it will accommodate a return service when a bitch misses or produces a still-born litter. Breeders are reminded of this condition and that it is imperative that before getting their bitch served that they lodge the application for the rebate with GRSA up to 3 days before the service or else a rebate may not be approved.

2014 GAWLER PRODUCE STAKE

Following the second payment for the 2014 Gawler Produce Stake in February, a total of 105 greyhounds are still eligible. Based on these figures it looks like the final will be worth at least $20,000 with the pool over $38,000.

The final payment for the 2014 Gawler Produce closes on Friday 4th April 2014. GRSA sent out payment forms last week for those greyhounds who remain eligible. Owners that have already made a one off payment are not required to make another payment.

The heats will be run on Tuesday 24th June with the semi-finals on Tuesday 1st July and the Final on Sunday 6th July.

We have also added another series in for this month for Grade 4/5 greyhounds over the 600m to replace a series lost earlier in the season. The $3,525 heats will be run Thursday 10th April with the $4,265 Final on Thursday 17th April.

Nominations close on Monday 7th April at 9.00am with GRSA.
