The Cameron Butcher trained sprinter On Fire scorched around the Angle Park loam in a blistering 29.63 on his way to his 9th consecutive win last night at headquarters.

The son of Bekim Bale and Alana Blues settled midfield before chasing down tearaway leader Cairnlea Kenny for Petar Jovanovic who also sizzled running a personal time of 29.77. On Fire’s performance was even more impressive with a super run home time of 12.51 and now looks SA’s main chance in the Sprint series of the UBET Nationals starting in August.

Other highlights last night were two heats of the SA Stayers Cup which saw both Zipping Zeus for Tony Rasmussen and Purpose Driven for Cameron Butcher win their heats in impressive fashion. They clashed in the Shane McQueen over 600m earlier in the month and now will do battle next week over the 731m staying trip. Next week’s $7,000 final promises to be a super clash and one not to be missed.
