A great day’s racing at the Murray Bridge Straight Track today with the running of the SA Straight Track Championships with the state's quickest up the 350m straight.

Unfortunately, the National Final of the series has been postponed due to the current COVID climate across the nation but today's racing certainly provided enough highlights for fans with the 350m track record being broken twice on the day!

The first heat saw Shavano claim the win in a new 350m track record time of 18.51seconds for trainer Bec Romyn with SA Straight Track Cup winner Aston Olenna for Dave Peckham finishing in 18.65seconds which would have also broken the old record of 18.66 seconds held by Lavish Pedro.

Trainer Bec Romyn brought up a double when Ransom's Pride took out heat 2 in 18.86 seconds ahead of Zipping Sultan for Ken Gill who was making his first start on the straight.

It was the Ray Fewings trained Craggy Island's turn next to take advantage of the tail-wind on offer and set a fast time and the Murray Bridge 395m track record holder didn't disappoint! Beginning well from box 1 in heat 3, he soon put distance between himself and the field to post a new 350m track record of 18.49 seconds just eclipsing the time Shavano had set earlier. Crush Your Enemy finished well in second place in his first start over the 350m trip for trainer Tim Richards.

Heat 4 was then won by Spring Vinnie for trainer Greg Board in another impressive time of 18.79 seconds with Bec Romyn getting her third runner through to next week's final when Meet Joe Black finished in second place.

It shapes as one of the best local feature finals we've had this year next Wednesday!
