Friday Meeting
Tracie Price kicked off a strong 12 race card at the Bridge training the first winner of the day which was a super impressive debutant in the form of Minnie’s My Mum (Beast Unleashed x Minnie Banjo).

The black bitch started favourite from box one over the 395m trip and it was quickly evident as to why as when the boxes opened, she came out running and quickly burst through to the lead. Around the turn, she led by a few lengths and as they continued up the straight, that margin extended. She stormed away in the end to win easily by a widening seven lengths in a fast 22.14, which is very fast for a bitch on debut and clearly has a bright future!

Tracie also collected a training double, when Compton Daisy was rewarded for her strong form recently. Coming out of box seven over the short trip, she started as a clear second favourite behind Zinfandel Evie, but thanks to a brilliant start from Compton Daisy, she fired over to a clear lead and immediately looked very good. After establishing a strong lead, she was travelling well and despite a resurgence from the favourite, Compton Daisy was just too good, winning in 22.46 and capping off a nice day for Tracie!

Rob Harnas has a handy pair of ‘Midnight’ youngsters on his hands and in a grade 5 over the 455m trip, the duo ran the quinella and both ran a good time in the process. Both chasers started a bit slowly when the boxes opened, but it was Midnight Sun who accelerated the best, bursting through along the rail and zooming to the front before they hit the turn.

Whilst this was happening, Midnight Token had whipped around the outside and put himself into a close second. Up the straight, the two of them fought it out, but Midnight Sun proved too strong, beating his brother by two lengths in a best of the day 25.56. With the pair only just turning two, you would think that there is still plenty of improvement left in them!

Tuesday (Straight track)
We had some nice conditions for our Tuesday straight track meeting this week and it was John Mundy who was one of the big winners for the day, collecting a training double.

Mr. Yellowstone was the first of the pair, winning well over the 350m trip in a small, but strong mixed 4/5 field. From box two, he started favourite given the strength of his recent form. From the inside, he quickly took control when the boxes opened and worked to the lead early. Holding the rail side, he built his lead and travelled well out in front. It was a comfortable ride home for Mr. Yellowstone, as he walked in for a three-length win running 19.38 in the process.

Zing Zang Oscar later made it two for John, making the most of box one over the 350m trip. Starting favourite, he left the boxes well and quickly went to the lead. Halfway up, he was pressured and needing to respond, but he did that well and ultimately toughed it out for a close victory, winning in 19.75 and capping off a good day for John.

Gary Pidgeon really enjoys racing up the straight track and it showed with another training double. Kingdom Leader was the first and he took out a heat of the grade 6 Fischer Motors series over the 300m distance.

After jumping okay from box four, he was quickly squeezed early and checked, costing him a couple of lengths, but despite that, he very quickly rebalanced and picked up speed again. In a few strides, he was able to work to the lead and once he did he was simply too good, running away for a strong 17.07 win.

Later in the day it was Sticky Rice who caused a big upset, defeating a hot favourite in the form Tijuana Boy. From box one, Sticky Rice jumped well and was given plenty of room to work with, making the most of this and pushing through to an early lead. Halfway up he held a few lengths margin out in front and whilst the challengers began to close late, he had already done enough, winning nicely in 19.68 and giving Gary a bit to smile about on the way home!
