MOUNT GAMBIER THURSDAY & SUNDAY THIS WEEK
It is GRSA’s intention to run both Mount Gambier this Thursday (18th February) and Sunday (21st February) this week.
The Border restrictions with Victoria are anticipated to be varied before Thursdays race meeting allowing for participants to cross the border and compete. However if this is not the case then these greyhounds will be withdrawn free of penalty and the race meeting will still proceed.
The nominations for Thursday closed at 9am this morning however have been extended until 9am tomorrow morning (16th February). It is GRSA’s intention to give as many greyhounds a run as possible from the nominations. Scratching’s for this race meeting will be finalised on Thursday morning giving more time for any direction from Government regarding the SA/Vic Border.
The nominations for Sundays meeting at Mt Gambier close at 9am on Wednesday and features Heats of the 2021 Summer Classic Feature over 512m (Special Event for all dogs & bitches whelped on or after 1/1/2019. If insufficient nominations for 2 or more heats a one-off final will be run on Sun 28/2/21 with preference to original nominations. $3,000 Final 28/2/21) and we hope is not affected.
It is imperative that these meetings are supported by trainers within SA as there is a chance our Victorian trainers may not be able to cross the border as a worst case scenario.
We have been able to secure the services of Dr. Chris Doyle for both meetings to ensure the Veterinary criteria is met.
