Tuesday (Straight Track)

Manuel Stuppos scored his first winner as a trainer in race one, with his first starter French For Bread scoring convincingly over the 300m trip. Jumping from box two, the fawn chaser handled his first start like an absolute professional, leaving the boxes well and striding out nicely. He won by four lengths in 16.96 and I would suggest he will win plenty more up the straight. Well done to Manuel!

Matty Payne continued his ripping form at the straight track, with three very impressive winners on the ten race card. Aston Tokyo was his first and it took a really good performance to upset a red hot favourite in Off Switch. Aston Carlos then landed a very deserving win as he rolled the race favourite Up There Bily, winning in 16.76. Aston Gypsy completed the day out, going all the way in 16.75. A terrific day for Matty and his team is certainly going well!

Tony Nobes has been a frequent visitor to the straight track in recent weeks and on Tuesday he received some reward for effort, landing a double for the card. Kaido was the first winner as he broke his maiden status with a gritty performance. It was a hard chasing effort from box eight as he was able to hold off a mid race challenge, before winning by a length. Redeemer’s Gift continued her stunning form to add another win to her record. She too won from box eight with a really slick effort, getting up by a length in 16.90.

Dog to follow: Redevelop- Really liked his run on Tuesday. He drew wide in box six but left well over the 300m trip. He copped and dealt with pressure to his outside mid race, but in the meantime the red hot favourite in Safe Drop had got to the front. Redevelop kept sticking on and only went down by a length.

Friday (1-Turn)

We had eleven cracking races on Friday arvo and it was the Lauren Harris and Ryan Tugwell show early, as they took out the first three races of the meeting. Finniss Flash continued his excellent form winning with ease over the 530m trip in 29.75,  before Finniss Redeem caused an upset in the maiden for race two, beating a couple of the fancied ‘Spring’ dogs. Finniss Whisper then caused another upset in the next race, taking out a red hot Juvenile race. Lauren made it four for the team, when Danyo’s Charlie won in a flying 25.27 later on the card. A big day out!

Nicole Price brought her team up for the day and with that her kennel star in Enthusiastic came up too. He drew perfectly in box eight and just started a hot favourite as a result. It was race over pretty early when he clicked through the gears quickly and took over in front, before putting an absolute space on the field. The end result was an 11 length win in a seriously fast 21.86 (BOD)! A cracking run.

Ben Rawlings sent a few dogs down for the day and walked away with a couple of impressive winners. Sister Roberta looked a certainty fresh off a Group race in Perth, and she ran accordingly. She stepped well and found the front, which was race over thereafter as she went a slick 25.35. Winner’s Win was able to score in the next race in 25.39. He didn’t jump straight on the arm but got a clear run and never looked in any real danger as he won by 3 lengths.

Dog to follow: Rushes Raw - He’s a dog that can really run and on Friday he was able to answer the question of running out the 455m trip. He was led by Sister Roberta and did a really good job to stick on with the strong bitch. He will be in the grade 6 final next week and can definitely win!
