Majestic Mclaren Ready For Round 1 of Gawler Produce Series

A terrific afternoon of racing awaits at Gawler this Friday, with five heats of the Gawler Produce Series to be run as week one of the lucrative three-week series kicks off.

The age-restricted series is open to paid up chasers each year and there is plenty of quality throughout the series.

Hahndorf based trainer Tania Foster will take a team of six into the series and she will have most of her hopes resting on the fast-emerging Majestic McLaren, who has stormed onto the scene as one of the brightest young stars going around.

At his last two starts at Murray Bridge, he won both and ran red hot times on both occasions, winning over the 395m trip in 22.25 before winning over the 455m trip in 25.23, which is a time that is only a couple of lengths outside the track record.

Last week, he ran a strong second back at Angle Park and it’s clear to see that the black dog will be going into Friday’s heat in good form.

“He has been racing well lately, he’s only had 19 or so starts. He’s had a couple of good runs at Angle Park, 30.70 sort of runs,” Foster said.

“The Murray Bridge runs were awesome! He was a little bit flat at his last run, we backed him up on the Monday, but he still managed to run second.” said Foster

“He’s still learning, he’s a huge dog, he’s 37 kg so he’s got long legs to try and organise, but he’s finally working it all out.”

“He’s trialled well up there (Murray Bridge) before early days. The week leading into the Howard Ashton, we trialled him at Angle Park and he went 30.50, so we were disappointed with not progressing in that series.”

Majestic McLaren will go into his heat as a raging hot favourite, with a key scratching in the form of Riot Rooster, ultimately making the task much easier for Majestic McLaren. He has drawn box one too which will help his cause and he will be looking to extend his good form and earn his way to the semi finals next week.

“He’s only had the one look (at Gawler), he had his first look on Monday morning and went quite well. The scratching (of Riot Rooster) is a nice bonus. He should go well, I would imagine,” Foster said.
It will be a real ‘family affair’ of sorts with nearly all of the Barcia Bale x McLaren Mystique (Feb 2022) litter competing in the heats.

Joining Majestic McLaren will be Sarah McLaren, Showtime McLaren, Tailored McLaren, Murphy McLaren and Lyla McLaren. Foster believes that the brother, which is Tailored McLaren, will put together a strong effort, but isn’t so sure about the sisters.

“He’s (Tailored McLaren - Heat 5) been going well too, he’s just had a bit of a niggle this last week so hopefully we’ve got that right. He can show some nice pace, he should go well, but there's a couple in his race that go well too.” said Foster

“The girls, well I'm not sure, we’ve been a little disappointed by them. They’ve had their niggles though. Lyla’s (McLaren) last run was quite good at Angle Park, but that’s probably the hardest heat that she’s in. We will wait and see what happens.”

With the five heats, the top three from each will go through to the two semi-finals next week, with the quickest fourth over the heats to secure the last spot. It promises to be an intriguing series, ultimately headlined Majestic McLaren, along with Gavin Harris’ quality pair of Zinfandel Evie and Zinfandel Trace.

The card will get underway at 3:24pm, with the five heats of the series being the first races run.

Best Bets:
Zinfandel Evie (Race 3, Number 6)
Impulsive (Race 10, Number 1)
