Magical Mystic looms as one to beat in Classic Prelude
The final of the Classic Prelude will be run on Thursday night, with a strong field drawn together for the race.
Two heats were run last week, with the first heat going the way of the faultless beginner that is Who Knows Darren, who was far too fast for his opposition and ran fast splits on his way to the 30.80 victory.
Heat two went to Magical Mystic, who wore down Buzz The Hustler in a stirring battle, with the duo getting away from the rest of the field. Magical Mystic won in a quick 30.63, which matched up very well with the rest of the times on the night.
Magical Mystic has continued to progress quickly in her short career and has now won three in a row. The win did not come as a great surprise to her trainer Bosko Stamenkovic, who has been impressed with the progress she has made and thought that she would run well in her heat.
“It (heat win) was pretty good. I thought she would run well and she did. It was no real surprise as she is improving all the time.” Stamenkovic said.
“I’ve always thought that she would mature into a stayer, the way she keeps improving.”
Box two with a few slow beginners on Thursday should mean that Magical Mystic gets her chance in the final, with Stamenkovic hoping that she can land in second behind the likely leader Who Knows Darren.
“Depends what the other dogs do, she’s not that badly boxed, as long as there is no crashing. Who Knows Darren is difficult, hopefully he is off and gone and she can get behind him. It looks like that might be the case,” he said.

Away from the Classic Prelude, we will see another ripping 730m FFA staying race, with Fantastic Radley looking to make it two in a row after causing a big upset last week, toppling the in-form Zipping Neutron.
It’s been a long road back for Fantastic Radley who has had to deal with many injuries but showed that he still well and truly has it, as he approaches the age of five. After being led by Zipping Neutron last week, it appeared extremely unlikely that he would be able to run him down, but sure enough he did, landing a stirring victory in 42.95.
The run ensured a proud co-trainer in Oswald Chegia, who thought that he would benefit from the hit out the week before.
“He did a good job, the week before he needed that run as he hadn’t been over the 730m distance for quite a while. That run he needed and the following week he went better than probably I expected.” said Chegia
It will be an enthralling battle once again on Thursday with Fantastic Radley drawing box one and Zipping Neutron in four, whilst the chances in the race don’t end there, with Zipping Senorita, My Mate Snow and Under Siege all likely to bring some strong competition. Chegia is happy with the draw and is optimistic that Fantastic Radley can improve again from last week.
“This week he should be better again I hope, if he stands up then he can do it (beat Zipping Neutron) again. I think box one is alright, he can stay on the rail and rail up, he will probably get headed, but he should rail up.” said Chegia
