LITTER HAS ANOTHER WINNER
A few weeks ago I reported on the win of Long Gully Dream, which won first up at Gawler. On Tuesday another of the litter was able to repeat that feat.
It was a pretty even despatch in The Bunyip Open Maiden over 531m, where Cool Mini from box 2 just headed Long Gully Mags (1) at the post the first time. Going around the first turn Long Gully Mags kicked up on the rails and went to a 3 lengths lead from Cool Mini and Neveah Kist, the reserve runner from box 8.
These three greyhounds were racing in single file and got well away from the rest of the field. On the back turn Cool Mini started making up ground quickly and threw down the challenge to Long Gully Mags but was unable to make any further impression on the leader, with Long Gully Mags winning by nearly 2 lengths in the time of 31.51 secs.
Cool Mini rana determined race for Des Hockley of Lewiston and Neveah Kist put in it’s best run to date to finish third for Peter Hurley of Two Wells.
Long Gully Mags is trained by Paula Hearnden of Angaston, and is raced by Paula in partnership with her mother, Helen. “Mags” is the third in the third in the Premier Fantasy x Blue Palace litter of six bred by the Hearnden family, to win and Paula is hopeful that the others can also achieve a win. Their top brood bitch Blue Palace, has thrown numerous winners from previous litters but Paula declared that this was her 5th and final litter.
The only trainer on the day to score more than the one winner, was Karen Bearpark, who did it in a big way. Karen had a great day out when she prepared four winners, being successful with Cowboy Jury, Big Shep, Mr Pipeline and Contrarian.
Racing at Gawler returns to it’s regular timeslots of every Tuesday afternoon and alternate Fridays and Sundays. The next Friday afternoon meeting is on the 10th and Sunday twilight on 19th.
