Lewiston trainer Kevin Bewley had a busy week this week with runners nominated at Murray Bridge on Tuesday, Gawler on Wednesday, Angle Park Thursday and Gawler on Friday. He opened up his winning account at Gawler on Wednesday when his greyhound Imperial Master led for a majority of the race from box seven to win by a head. He ran a time of 23.33. On Thursday night at Angle Park his greyhound Finnis Storm took out the opening race on the program at odds of $101. He ran a time 31.66 over the 530 meters and caused a massive upset. Kevin would return to Gawler on Friday and score with Raging Critter when he led all of the way from box one in the second heat of the Masters series. He ran a time of 23.19 and will line up in the Masters Series Final next week. The winner of the first heat was Filthy Phantom for Langhorne Creek trainer Tony Hinrichsen.

Kevin stated he was very impressed on Wednesday with Imperial Master. “He’s jumping a lot better now. He likes the wider boxes”. He was absolutely thrilled on Thursday with Finnis Storm stating, “that was my second $101 winner on a Thursday Night”. Raging Critter was his third winner of the week and Kevin stated “He is just getting better with age”. “Racing him (Raging Critter) up the straight track has helped sharpen him up a bit as well”. “The last few months my team of greyhounds have really picked up” Kevin said.

It was a big day on Friday for the Gawler Greyhound Club President Mike Wittholz who scored a double. He only had the two runners engaged in the race meeting and they both scored victories. His first winner for the day was in race four when his younger greyhound Universal Value scored his third career win from just eight starts. He pounced on the early leaders midway during the race and he ran home strong to run a time of 23.26. Mike struck again in race eight when veteran chaser All Out Crazy made it career win number 32. He ran a time of 23.00 in the process.

Racing Returns to Gawler on Wednesday afternoon and Friday afternoon this week. Make sure you head up to the Nixon’s Function Centre for a feed while enjoying the racing.
