Kalden Legenda shooting for 10 straight
KALDEN LEGENDA SHOOTING FOR 10 STRAIGHT
Most of the attention on tonight’s Angle Park meeting will centre on race 9 where Kalden Legenda will attempt a very rare feat in racing, where he will be shooting for his 10th win in a row.
Trainers will tell you it’s hard enough to train one winner let alone shooting for 10 in a row so the feats of young trainer Ben Rawlings should be applauded along with the performances of Kalden Legenda over the last few months which have been outstanding.
Kalden Legenda’s first win in a string of victories came on the 4th March in a mixed 4/5 event at Angle Park on a Wednesday before Ben brought him to headquarters to compete on a Thursday night. He has competed in grade 5 special events for older greyhounds with Kalden Legenda generally the oldest greyhound in the field. He has raced the last 8 Thursday nights winning on each occasion making him not only consistent in his performance but also extremely durable with an extraordinary desire to win. He was whelped on 8th December 2010 making him 4½ years of age and had to battle a serious injury keeping him away from the racetrack for around a year.
The races that Kalden Legenda has been able to win as an older greyhound highlights the opportunities available for grade 5 greyhounds to continue their racing careers in SA in these special events.
Winning 10 in a row would be a great achievement for Kalden Legenda, trainer Ben Rawlings and connections with his 7 other competitors hoping to spoil the party but most would say having Kalden Legenda back fit and racing and enjoying his racing they have already won.
Race 9 at Angle Park is due to jump at 9.35pm (SA time) with many greyhound enthusiasts around the nation wishing Kalden Legenda the best of luck.
