Sunday night greyhound racing returned to Gawler with a strong eleven race program on the weekend. We kicked off the race meeting with a small field of four over 400 meters. Troy Murray trained the race favourite which was a debutant named Shall Not who lined up from box number two. The first starter jumped really well from box two and ended up leading all of the way for a six-length victory. He ran a time of 22.94 which was only a little slower than the best time of the night which was 22.88 set by Man Absconded later in the night. Shall Not is a name to be looking out for after running that sort of time on debut.

Ex Victorian greyhound She’s So Amazing had her first start in South Australia for trainer Kiah Hurley in race eight. She came to SA with a record of 45 starts for 5 wins in Victoria. She showed very strong speed from box eight running her first section in 8.75. She went on to lead all of the way running a time of 23.13 and winning by 2 lengths. Her form over in Victoria indicates that she should be able to improve with each start she has in here in South Australia and I’m sure Kiah will be very excited to see what this greyhound can bring to the table in the near future.

Dakota Hummer was a strong winner for trainer Colin Simes over 531 meters running a time of 30.92. Vinnie Rumbing utilised box eight well to win race six and run a time of 23.08. Tony Rasmussen scored a double in the closing stages of the night. He took out race nine with in form chaser Man Absconded who made it four wins in a row. He then scored his second winner when Spring Line won her first race since coming to South Australia running a time of 31.17
