Hot Weather - GRSA
During this period of hot weather, Greyhound Racing SA (GRSA) reminds all participants of our comprehensive Animal Welfare Policy and its requirements regarding transportation in hot weather.
Specifically, participants are required to implement additional precautions to protect greyhounds during journeys that take place at any time on days forecast for 32C or higher (according to official Bureau of Meteorology forecasts). These include:
1. During hot weather affected journeys, cooling provisions are to be implemented. Acceptable methods include air conditioning and cool vests.
2. If cooling vests are used, they are to be used according to the manufacturer’s recommendations to maximise their effectiveness.
GRSA Stewards and Animal Welfare teams will be conducting additional checks and inspections during this period, both at race meetings and at participants’ properties.
As always, the welfare of our dogs and participants remains an absolute priority for GRSA. We thank you in advance for your cooperation.
