High Five! Price enjoys Super Sunday at Gawler

Nicole Price and her team enjoyed a day out on Sunday, claiming five winners across three distances in an impressive training performance.

Kicking off the quintet was Zipping Highland who made it four straight wins over the 643m trip at Gawler, winning an entertaining battle with recent Million Dollar Chase semi-finalist Kruger Lass.

Jumping from box three in a small field, Zipping Highland was able to lead throughout despite pressure from Kruger Lass down the back straight and on the home turn but kicked away to win by a length in 37.48.

Price made it back-to-back winners in the second race on the card, with Sweet Soul breaking its maiden in its third career start, winning from box one in 23.14.

Harvey Boy continued the good run for Price, claiming his second career win from just nine starts over the 400m journey with a nice run from box two.

The Price team finished the night as they started with a pair of winners in the final two races on the card over the 531m journey.

The first was Zipping Mahalia who enjoyed a drop-in class to a grade six after coming through a heat of the Adelaide Cup in its most recent start. From box two, she was able to find the early lead and held off Excite down the back straight finding a kick to win by a length.

Velocity Zaylia closed out the card winning the high grade 531m race holding out the speedy Springvale Roxy early before holding off the chasers late and winning in 30.79.

Also on the Sunday card at Gawler, SA Country Cup winner Federal Fernando claimed a narrow victory in his first look at the Gawler track ahead of a possible Gawler Gold Cup campaign.

Jumping from the wide draw in box eight, Federal Fernando raced to an early lead and although it got weary late, he was able to hold off the fast-finishing Alvin Rose.

Robyn Mackellar also had an impressive winner with Get Up Jimmy producing an excellent run over the 400m journey.

From box eight, he was able to jump and lead winning by nearly three lengths in a best of the night time to make it 22.49 and giving Get Up Jimmy a sixth career win from just eight starts.

Coorong Cam returned to Gawler on Sunday and was back in winning form, snapping a recent run of placing with a 22.53 win over the 400m trip.

Jumping well from box two, he was able to surge to the lead and kick away for career win number 18 from 52 career starts.

While Sunday belonged to Nicole Price, Wednesday’s meeting was an excellent afternoon for Ben Rawlings who bagged four winners on the 11-race card.

Help Me Ronda was the first, grabbing its second career victory in start 10 with a nice win from box five  before Aching was also able to win from box five

Rawlings capped the quartet with a pair of excellent winners including Agent Nineteen who won from box one in a best of the day time of 22.43 while Agent Four took out the grade 4/5 race winning from box four in 22.65.

Also on Wednesday’s card, Shan’s Jinx claimed its first win in six starts for trainer Graeme Stirling as it took out the 643m race to open the card.

Despite getting away slowly and being last in the small field down the back straight, it was able to come around the field and kick away to win by eight lengths.

Don Turner’s recent run of impressive winners continued with a double on the Wednesday card, beginning with Wait Up in the maiden over the 400m journey.

Getting away slowly from box seven, Wait Up was the beneficiary of trouble on the home turn swooping through on the rail to win in his eighth career start.

Information completed the double for Turner. Taking out the final race on the card which was a grade six over the 531m journey. Jumping from box six, Information got away only fairly but got a beautiful passage through on the first turn and powered away to win by eight lengths.
