GRSA Partners with Operation Flinders

Greyhound Racing South Australia (GRSA) recently announced an exciting new partnership with locally based charitable organisation, the Operation Flinders Foundation.

Operation Flinders is a South Australian based charitable organisation which transforms the lives of young people through world leading outback intervention programs.  The money raised from GRSA’s fundraising endeavours will go towards the funding of wilderness treks in the far northern Flinders Ranges, providing young men and women who have been identified as being ‘at risk’ with demanding outdoor challenges with the aim of personal development so that they can grow to become highly valued members of the broader community.  This unique program is typically a life-changing experience for the young people that it seeks to help.

Chief Executive Officer for GRSA Matt Corby said, “We are so pleased to be able to support this new partnership given the positive impact that this initiative has had on young South Australians since its introduction.”

During the month of April, GRSA will donate $250 every time the Number 1 (red rug) dog wins a race at any meeting across South Australia.   Additionally, Operation Flinders will be provided with fundraising opportunities at GRSA’s Angle Park headquarters to further support the program.

Operation Flinders is dependent upon the partnerships that it forms with South Australian businesses. The ongoing support that it receives through those organisations enables it to offer life-changing opportunities to more than 500 young people annually.

Operation Flinders believe every young person deserves the opportunity to be the best they can possibly be, and it is critical that organisations such as Greyhound Racing SA share this vision.

“As an industry, we are excited by the opportunity to support such a visionary organisation and one which achieves so much for the young people who have been fortunate enough to benefit from the experience Operation Flinders offers.  We are committed to having some direct involvement in the trekking experience ourselves to learn more about the program, its volunteers and its participants.
