The GRSA Strategic Plan released in July 2012, identified the need for significant infrastructure spending over the ensuing five years in support of the modernisation of South Australian tracks and facilities.  Following on from this objective, a comprehensive infrastructure plan for the renewal and replacement of identified industry assets was developed.

The end of the 2012/13 financial year brought to a close the first full year of that infrastructure plan. More than $1.5 million has been invested by the Board around the State in upgrading and improving industry facilities and equipment.

Further to this initial investment, GRSA remains committed to an ongoing focus on infrastructure renewal for the foreseeable future. That program of works includes the impending redevelopment of the patron facilities at Gawler and the construction of a one-turn track in the southern region.

In conjunction with this focus on capital works, GRSA has budgeted for year-on-year increases to participant returns as a priority.  It should be noted that in this first year of elevated infrastructure spending, industry returns still rose by $342,000 (6.21%).

As part of its ongoing commitment to open and transparent communication with participants, GRSA provides the following summary of infrastructure items that have taken place in the past 12 months, or are currently in progress.

A review of these projects quickly indicates that the enormous task of modernising industry assets covers many different areas. Whilst some of these areas do not necessarily have immediate impact for participants, nonetheless upgrades needed to occur to replace aging or redundant infrastructure.

GRSA will continue to keep participants informed regarding all major infrastructure projects as they occur.
