It was great night of racing on Sunday at Gawler with the running of 3 quality Heats for the 2021 Breeder's Prelude (2) Series.

Heat 1 saw the Cameron Butcher trained Jack's Well started as a heavy $1.50 favourite with punters, followed by Victa Haydn at $3 for Tony Rasmussen while the rest of the field started in double-figures. As the lids went up it was Des Hockley's Crazy Dream who began best from box 6 setting a 3.15 first split ahead of a line of dogs including Victa Saige (B2), Iranian Girl (B3), Jack's Well (B7) and Ninkasi (B8) who all headed to the first turn together. As Crazy Dream pushed ahead, Jack's Well managed to avoid the congestion at the bend and found room down the back straight while Victa Haydn also began moving up the field. Jack's Well picked up the lead into the final bend and from there pushed ahead to an impressive 5 length, 30.92s win ahead of Crazy Dream who pushed on for second while Victa Haydn ran on well for third.

The second heat saw Paul Rehmann trained Gemtree Maximus return to Gawler after his second placing in the Future Stars Final a fortnight before and off the back of an impressive win over the 395m at Murray Bridge. Starting favourite in the markets, he began brilliantly from box 5 with Victa Buzz (B1) holding him at bay around the first corner before he took over down the back straight. Victa Grosso (B6) began making up ground down the back straight to put himself into place contention as did Concede for Clint Trengove. But it was all Gemtree Maximus as he went to score a 30.90s win ahead of Victa Grosso who produced an eye-catching run-home to finish in second place while Concede ran on into the third.

The third heat saw Future Star series winner Crazy Diva for Des Hockley line-up as equal favourite in the market with Lisa Rasmussen's Victa Reid ahead of an even field. Long Gully Carly began well from box 1 for Paula Hearnden with Paul Rehmann's Gemtree Apollo (B3) and Victa Reid (B4) sitting themselves right behind the leader. Sitting third for much of the trip, Victa Reid really put the foot down on the home straight, running wide, and swooping into first place to win by half a length in 31.21 seconds over a brave Long Gully Carly and Crazy Diva in third.

Sunday night's final looks a tantalising match-up of two of the most impressive young greyhounds in the State with Jack's Well and Gemtree Maximus both looking to add this feature to their already impressive resumes. They have drawn box 4 and 8 respectively from which they both have a good strike from so far in their careers. The Rasmussen kennel has 2 runners in Victa Reid and Victa Grosso who will look to gain advantage of their inside draws, while Des Hockley also two runners with Crazy Dream and Crazy Diva who are drawn wide where they have respectable records which will make for a great race.

The box draw for Sunday's final is below and will jump as race 8 on the program at 7.24pm.
